I heard somewhere that the AA for crit nuke help make this spell proc the 4 pets more often any truth to this?

I've never heard that, and it's very unlikely it would be true.  The chance to have the 4 pets cast are hard coded into the spell, and they would need to do a decent amount of code writing to make the nuke AAs work with it.
