Currently I am KoS to Venril Sathir faction. I really want the OT hammer, though. I don't have the money for Puppet Strings, but I do want to be able to get my faction up enough for turn ins, and things like that. How would I go about doing this, or am I just screwed?

Level an "Aberration" type shroud to level 2. The level 2 Evileye can charm. :-D

Kill lots and lots (and lots and lots) of Sarnak Berzerkers in OT for their war braids - 6 min timer I think so isn't all that bad. Then buy a couple DE, Troll, or Ogre illusion potions. If you haven't fought in HS or KC and are not an Iksar you are looking at around 88 war braids. I think you need 120ish if you are Iksar and like 240 if you have bottomed out you faction. Beware the Dragoons and General as they wander and see through the potion. Once you get enough faction it just costs you a jade and feel free to trash all of your faction work by just one trip into HS or something hehe. I never ran into a problem running from where you port in to the PoK book.

Best use is dual someone in your group till it fires.

I have a troll potion, but I am still KoS when formed. I have fought in KC, because I didn't know about the hammer when I went out. I went in invis to turn in the braids and got attacked by a bunch of skellies. ><

I had never took a VS faction hit as my bst when I did my hammer (right before the DL war which ruined my VS faction completely :P )

troll potion brought me to apprehensive. 40 braids to indifferently. then used the alliance clicky necklace from icewell to amiable.

Now that I am looking at it, leveling a shroud sounds kind of fun. Which Abber--something or other Enchanter does the Charming, though? The second stage enchanter, or the fourth stage?

Second stage (and third too).

The Evil Eye Psion's "Gaze of the Beholder" is the charm. Looking at Lucy it seems unresistable too. :-o

Edit: Corrected shroud stage to make clear what I meant. :roll:

Shroud is the way to go. Took me just over an hour in kurns to level shroud to get charm. Much cheaper than puppet strings as well :-D

Aye, was very happy when I got my CC shroud. =D

I found a insta-pop skelly in Freeport, though. =D
