Title: Group Spells... Why dont they stick to pet?
Post by: Lewzephyr on January 06, 2004, 06:33:09 PM
Someone asked in a previous post if pack shrew would work on pet....  The response was no...

So, why is this... Why does our Spiritual line not stick to pet as well?
Anyone aware of a previous discussion on this topic?  Wether here or in more official SoE circles?

I have not checked this out with ALL group spells, so I cannot say if it is accross the entire board, but from the few I can think of it is a no Workie Situation....

With any of the classes, group spells don't effect pets.  Pets are NPCs first and foremost, secondly, they are not considered an active group member, they are, more or less, an extension of yourself, but do not get the benefits you do.   This has been a discussion for a long time, since the dawn of EQ.

Its just by design.  The fact that pets are not group member also made them not suck xp or takes up a group member slot, I think that's a good thing.

Its always good and bad.  Goes together.

One of the new GoD AAs is going to fix this, which will be wonderful. Too bad you can't pop your pet out to get him buffed in PoK before running off to fight. ;)

Based on what little we have seen I would think that the new AA would let Paragon be cast on the Warder as well since it is treated as a group spell.  But we really won't know for sure until it goes live. I personally like the idea of letting my Warder get the effects of my Group spells, but there really aren't that many that are super-beneficial to the warder.
