Title: 2.0 Broken -- 7 / 6 / 06 (FIXED)

As of about three days ago, Scout Husman in the Grimling Forest will not respond to the phrase "I wish to end the great threat in the grimling forest."

He will respond to regular hails, but every time i try the phrase, he doesn't do anything. I've completed everything up to this point (PoAir, Jagged Pine, Tradeskills) and he is still unresponsive.

I'm on the Saryrn server, if this makes any difference.

I suspect talking to Husman is totally optional, but this is what he should say:

Scout Husman says 'Ah, I see you have come to help with the growing problem in the forest with the Grimlings. They were already a big enough problem, but some have changed and become ever more powerful and twisted. There are two in particular trying to amass a powerful following. You will mostly likely find them wandering in the forest from time to time as they recruit. Good luck to you friend.'

If you can find the general and colonel grimlings, you don't have a problem continuing. But you can /bug it if you want.

I hydra a druid, and I've roamed around the forest mashing my track button for hours at a time (I think my longest run was almost four hours). I've come up with nothing, and I check here frequently between LFG's / Raids / etc. I petitioned three days ago, and a GM gave me a response today confirming that Scout Husman and the Grimling Colonel / General were bugged.  :-(

Seems the zone has been broken for at least a month now. When I went up there to help another beast start their 2.0 not only were none of the scouts up but none of the grimling camps had anything in them either.

Yeah I went up there myself to check and both 1.0 and 2.0 are bugged atm.  Guess I can wait to start on this part since it's gonna be awhile to get CoA flagged anyway.  Think it really sucks for the new beasts trying to get 1.0 or those just doing it to get 1.5 kicked off.

It should be fine. The 1.5 quest doesn't have anything in Grimling to do as far as I recall.

I've been hunting around the Grimling Forest trying to find these blasted grimlings, when I noticed on my druid's track a VERY large amount of grimling manawielders. I went to check it out and found atleast 50 manawielders on top of eachother in the caves to Acrylia. If you're in the Grimling Forest, go to the Acrylia Caverns cave, and act like you're going to the zone-in. At the first fork, go left. Keep going, and then you will come to a South / East fork. Go east, and then go North into the dead-end. I found the broken manawielder spawn point in the north-west corner of this room. Is this only on Saryrn, or other servers as well?

I'm pretty sure that this is the problem to the Colonel / General / Scouts not spawning. Maybe (I'm not sure) the zone is bugged because it's reached its NPC cap or something? Some kind of code saying "Only X amount of NPC's are allowed in the Grimling Forest at one time" or something like that. Fixing this might fix our 2.0, maybe. If I'm correct, it would certainly explain why A) The grimling camps aren't repopping, and B) Why our mobs won't spawn.

I have been told, however, that the Colonel / General are on a two-to-three day timer, and that you just have to get lucky to find them. Does anyone know if the Colonel / General stay up indefinately once they spawn, or are they timed, etc etc?

I can verify that the insane number of grimling manawielders is up on The Rathe server. I read this post and decided to log my ranger on (who's been parked in the middle of the zone for a couple weeks) and check again. This time I decide to take a count. I counted exactly 100 manawielders up from my central location and again no Colonel or General in sight. When I'm bored and have some time I might have to go through there and try to do some exterminating and see if it makes a difference. OMG... I just paused from writing this and ran over there to take a peek. It looks like every last manawielder has spawned on top of itself. I think all 100 of them are right there. The /loc was pos 518, pos 1211.  And another note, except for that little dead end where they are standing... the entire tunnel area leading to the caverns is empty. Also neither Avisiris OR his placeholder are spawning at there designated location.

This is happening on Erollisi Marr as well.

There are about 15% of the normal grimlings in the tunnel.. the rest are just gone.

I went through camps 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and NOTHING is up at any of them.. no thieves.. no nothing.

The tunnel to AC has 15% of its normal population.. scattered mostly.

Then I found the......

Okay, so since this is a confirmed bug by people across five servers, I'd like anyone that reads this to /bug it please. If you can only remember to do it once, then do it, but I'm going to start bugging it once a day. If everyone that's responded to my manawielder spawn problem bugs this once a day, that's atleast 5 bugs per day / 35 per week / 140 per month. That's just with five people.

They can't ignore us forever.  :roll:

I'm not sure about any of you guys, but I'd like this fixed so I can get my 2.0  :-D

I did try killing the manawielders, and I did succeed, but it was rather difficult. At first, they cast on you and I resisted everything but the dispell. Once I was out of buffs (save clickies) and they were out of mana, they start beating on you. It was a long fight, I'd recommend cornering yourself to channel through heals, but it's possible to kill them all. The unfortunate part about all of this, is that they all respawned about one minute after I finished killing them.  :x

I killed out the entire tunnel for a test.(not the manawielders)

Of the ones I killed,   maybe 15 along the main path.. and all the rooms.

The rooms seem to be respawning ok... along with 3-4 guards along the path.

Other than the rooms and the manawielders... there is NOTHING in the tunnel(barring 3-4 guards).

Nothing outside the tunnel at the spike fortifications...
Nothing at any camp
maybe a wandering grimling.. I saw TWO grimlings wandering on my way to AC.. and i visited just about every camp west of the river.
The rest of the zone is just vacant.

and will bug this yea.

I lived btw...  It would have took them about .... 45sec of hitting me maybe more to kill me.
And most of the time they cast.
They run slow and dont summon.

Yep, that's exactly the same. I actually went in there and tried to kill them too and I could see them respawning so fast. On mine there is about 10ish mobs right around the manawielders that will respawn when I kill them, but other than that everything else is gone save a few wandering owlbears. I took some screenshots earlier, but was too tired to fool with them before I went to bed so here ya go...

Doubt it. The patch message reads like it was just to fix up some pregression server issues.

I intend on going to the SoE block party this weekend though so I'll see if I can find someone willing to give me a straight answer about GF.

SoE has been known to do things that they don't mention in patch messages. It's a possibility that it's fixed now, but I don't doubt that it isn't.

And if you find someone at the block party, make sure you give them hell for those of us working on this part of the 2.0  :-D

I've just logged on post-patch, and I decided to do some testing.

As after every patch, every zone is in full-repop. Grimling Forest is no exception. So, I decided to check out the recently-found broken spawn point, and to my suprise, there was only one (1) grimling manawielder there. So I went and killed one of the grimling guards at the entrance to the tunnels, and went back to the manawielder spawn point.

My suspicions were confirmed, as when the manawielder respawned, there were two. I killed the other grimling guard at the entrance of the tunnel, and sure enough, 3 mana wielders spawned.

I'm going to do my best to keep anyone from killing the grimlings in here, in hopes that the colonel / general will spawn like natural.

Scout Husman is still unresponsive to the trigger phrase, as well. Blasted SoE... they can fix raid commands on the combine server, but they can't fix a simple spawn point / script error for the other 12 (guess) servers?

Has anyone tried bringing everything involved in the 2.0 (up to this point) to Scout Husman in the Grimling Forest, and talking with him then? Like, bringing the peice of wood from Mauda, the clay from Air, the Blood from Jaggedpine, and having all Tradeskills done?

How about talking to Mauda as if you were starting from the beginning, and then going straight to the Forest? It's only 2 zones away, maybe we're timed now or something?

Just trying to get this stupid thing figured out.

I've been working this part for 3 weeks now and no luck as of yet Ive submitted a /bug report every day even talked to the GMs and  all they say is sorry the Dev's are aware of the problem and are working on it. I guess raid tool on the progression server is more important then an entire zone being bugged on every server. I will continue to put a /bug report in daily till fixed. As far as going straight there after hailing Mauda it wont make a difference as ive already tried this.

I say keep the bug reports flowing, and hopefully we'll have this fixed before they -have- to patch in September for the Serpent's Spine.  :-(

Just got back from the Block Party. Managed to corner a Dev long enough to ask him about Grimling Forest and he had no idea that anything was wrong in that zone. In his defence though I don't really know if that was his Dev area or not.

Anyways, I got his email addy from him so let's see if I can take this somewhere talking directly to him.

Good news is, if you need money, it's a good place to farm for right now, u can make 3-4k in less than an hour, I just had a wizzy w/ me. I'd go in get aggro on em all and he'd ae them. Takes longer to loot than to kill. So well atleast if we cant get our epic, we can get some cash out of it lol.

It seems that "Early next week (Monday or Tuesday)" is just a bit too early for them to fix something that's cockblocking a weapon still used by many beastlords throughout the game.

Well I've been camped in Grimling a while now and no Scout Husman at all.  I went over to the caves and didn't find a lot of spawns but a lot of grimling camps are empty.  I guess this still isn't fixed?  :?

I agree 100% and SoE should get off their ass, put someone on it to fix before this upcoming expantions. They are blocking many beast from moving on with their 1.0 and 2.0 and it is just plain stupid.


Altho I did hit grimling up monday, and there were grimlings int he camps, but it seems once they die, they dont respawn back at camp.

I still cant believe after all the bug reports that we all sent in that they still havent fixed the Scout Husman part of the quest. :cry: they really need to work on this so all of us beasts that are stuck here can finish up our epics its rediculous, i report it once a day and still nothing, any word on any other server if its fixed yet? BTW im on Druzzil Ro

If your refering to them becomong obsolete, im sure they mean in upper end TSS, For those that are in DK area now. Im sure it will be a few months *being generous unless sony bust's out the big cockblocking* till better is found. I do tho want my damn 2.0 fixed because will be a while before I see that, and it is still a great weapon for many.

SoE needs to get  their heads out of their asses, put the hamster back in the wheel, or put the monkey back that actually did something. It is annoying to have to deal with our 2.0 being broke, especially having  globe rotting away in bank. There are other scounts, and they also link to the 1.0 *to keep with lore also* so code it into one of the others, I mean hell should not take that long, considering they "have it fixed"

If this actually happens this time, I will be quite happy. Maybe they can manage to fix Bellfast 3 also, but hey lets not push to many things at once, might overload them =p. Guess time will tell if this happens.

They say that this fix is going live tonight ( I just got online from a power outtage for 24hrs.  :x ). I'm not sure if it's going up right now, or later, but let's hope it gets fixed.

I spoke to the scout then left my tracker (54 drood) to track mobs in middle of zone.  Took about an hour then the Colonel popped.  Logged in and killed him.  Then bout 10 mins later General popped.

Did u say the trigger phrase?  "I  wish to end the great threat in the Grimling Forest."  ?? I said that and he repsonded.. He will respond to hails the same way as when 1.0 was done.

Aye i did mine late last night after Epee on Povar and they both spawned right away tracked and killed them and now on to the NC fight  :-D
