Post by: Noxdowne Draggout on January 04, 2004, 03:43:07 PM
Hey Feral Lords !

My question is an easy one I think and one that might be fun.

In all of the EP's besides time , which items are you drooling over?

Is there a BP or a legging that drops that has you all excited about your DKP's being accumulated?

Is there a weapon you have totally focused on?

Me I am juts getting to EP status and I already have the Gridle of Earthen Stability which was a HUGE upgrade over my axe belt.

I would really like the Wristband of the Rathe next.

Any EP ornate armor of course would be great, but after that wrist (or a Flowing moss mantle as 2nd choice) I am really excited about a Zha staff.

The fiery staff just has me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside lol.

I am guessing that I should see that staff within the next 5-6 weeks.

FR's BP is an awesome upgrade too.

Man I feel like a kid in a candy store, but I have to pick and choose what I will request so in order:

1) Wrsitband of the rathe or Flowing moss mantle

2) Fiery staff of Zha

3) Immacualte Vest of the Fire Tyrant

What are the ones that make you go gaga?

Xegony fist, Wristband of the Rathe, and Fiery staff of Zha. :P

Not that I'm likely to see any of them drop soon.  I'm actually EP flagged through a coalition of people most of whom are either unguilded or in guilds (like mine) who haven't yet done the full PoP flag progression.  We don't have a 10k hp tank who can attend on a regular basis, (yet) so certain fights tend to be short and ugly.  :x

Don't really have to have a 10k tank to do most of the ele planes minis/gods. Obviously the tank needs to have some good gear but overall the number of clerics and mgb'able healers are more important to a whole lot of the encounters. Such as blazax the omnifiend (not sure if that's spelled right) and the giant frog in fire. Those bastards suck away the raids hp pretty damn fast. Also enchanters are very important for a lot of those encounters so make sure you have some that know what they are doing. Until a good portion of the raid is geared up well you are going to need a lot of people to be effective.

FR BP, Ele legs, and Wristband of the Rathe are the only things i want out of the eles anymore. Theres just too much awesome time stuff to bother replacing other slots with ele stuff  :o . And BTW some of us don't use DKP!

QuoteDon't really have to have a 10k tank to do most of the ele planes minis/gods.

True for most of them, but General Reparm (who drops the Fiery Staff of Zha) can one-round pretty much any 10k tank.  Doesn't matter how good your CH rotation is when Defensive drops and the MT takes over his max hp in under a second. ;)

We don't use DKP either.

So many do it just seemed reasonable to put it that way :)

The random drop Totem from the Fenin event is wonderful for beastlords as it's got wonderful hp/stats/mana and has healing haste on it.

Both Konig and I (the only two beastlords in our guild at the moment) got the vest off of Fennin.  It rocks :)

He chose the Fiery Staff of Zha which he likes, I prefer to use the pet proc weapon (which drops off xp named mobs in fire) with the battle fists from TZ.  I may upgrade those to the celestial wraps off Xegony since it's the second best hand to hand for us, but one of the time beastlords on our server uses a 1hb from time in her off hand which looks cool too :)

I love the wristband of the wrathe.  It rocks for pulling and it let me upgrade my boots to ele boots.  Other than that, I'm partway through tradeskills for the tradeskill earring, but I may just give up and loot one off Coirnav or wait for time :)

Lemme see, i got zha, fennin vest, haste bracer, but i severely lack Xegony fists. Since we are in Time and dont do her anymore (except for the occasional reflagging) my chances are slim to ever get them. Next item i totally drool over is Shinai of the Ancients, but thats not exactly in elemental planes. At the moment i switch between zha staff and cudgel of wrecking/savage platinum fists, but zha still wins (and im soooo tired of 2hb).

Wow my guild does Time but we still do ele gods any chance we get while its not our turn in Time. 2 Xeg fists rotted the last time we did the event. Heck even everyones BST / MNK twinks have them now.

The one EP drop that I wanted more than any other was the Earring of Embedded Coral from Coirnav the Avatar of Water:

http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=10242

This is a tough slot to upgrade, and it also let me retired my Blessed Coldain Prayer Shawl.

There are very few items which a beastlord can use that will extend buffs and drop at this level of the game. The only other 2 are:

Woven Steel Sash - Avatar of Smoke - http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=15871
Pulsing Onyx Ring - Bertoxxulous (Plane of Time) - http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=26993

I consider my earring an item that I will never upgrade.

Personally, I am most looking forward to new weapons - Shinai and Ethereal Destroyer being my current options, though I would readily do Shinai/Xeg Fist as well - if we ever do Xegony again.

Other than that, some new shoulders, like a Shroud of Provocation.  Those are the 3 items I am most focused on.

i think before plane of time was discovered
Fennin's Bp for beastlords was a highly desired item.
Xegony Wraps is also another very nice end item.

i think these 2 items really enchance the player from the items under Elemental zones.

in plane of time.
I would say some items are replacements and some are great upgrades.
Items like Protective Sleeves dont alter hp ac atk when comparing to Dumuls Sleeves.
Bracer of Precision gives 1 more Veng than Dumuls bracer does yet a little more hp and resists.
Dumuls BP has the nice resists yet has same AC as Fennins but 150hp Vs 210 and same Focus as Bracer of Precision

really at the end it just depends what you wish to focus on.
FT
ATK
HP
AC
Resists.
Most items overlap when trying to create an equipment list that best suits your style. But for FT you may sacrifice some hp/ac for it.

Actually the coolest thing about time stuff is special effects like stun resist, +accuracy, +avoidance, ect  . They are one of the biggest things i look at when selecting time stuffs.

Post by: Klav on January 06, 2004, 01:15:09 AM
ah yes i forgot about those to.
personally i have gone after "Stun Resist" mods because i tank commonly and it does tickle my fancy when i get those "You have shaken off the stun" lines.

aye the highly desired items will usually have these mods
i hope Gates of Discord will bring these more thoroughly

Personally I'm a big fan if strikethrough mods.

Numerous times Strikethrough has worked on enraged mobs where I took 0 damage and managed to hit them a couple times, also it helps increase your dps when you can bypass riposte/dodge/parry.
Timestone adorned ring and tigerskin gloves are 2 nice items.

Next would be Avoidance.
Dumul's BP, Pants of furioss might, and Shinai of the Ancients.

Darn reparm refuses to drop a zha for us. 25+ kills and we have 1 zha on a monk that doesn't play anymore.

atm I have my eye on a shinai, Symbol of ancient summoning and either a dumul's or Fro vest. Fro hates us as much as reparm does though, we have 2 fro vests on 2 druids.

Well it was the Wraps off Xegony but they dropped on her second kill and boy was I happy I had the points.    Next is the Fennin bp and some rings from time.

Pulsing Onyx Ring
Silver Hoop of Speed

But the /drool winner is
Pants of Furious Might

No one mentioned yet Simple Ring of Purity (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=18680), which is one of the extremely rare healing focus items bsts can use.

I want it badly... imagine 25% healing focus for chloroblast (with maxed healing AAs) and healing of sorsha with this item. in many situations I find my self spot healing for a quite bit. Like in Coirnav event, Warlord Gintogan, Reparm, FRo, AoE generally... and tossing cholroblast here and there almost on every raid. Granted I don't use healing of sorsha anymore in many situations, but it can be still handy when grouped with other petclasses and warder is tanking. For example Tower of Solro farming (have done that with mage). Before anyone starts to flame me that ring should goto healers... they got excatly the same focus on their elemental sleeves.

Other things still would like to have from EPs:
-Wristband of Rathe (haven't dropped in the last 5 dustrings and we don't do this often anymore)
-Xegony wraps (of course, but we don't kill her much anymore)
-FRo tunic (going pretty for pretty cheap, but not sure if I want this or get Time BP)
-Coirnav earring would be pretty amazing too (as stated in previous posts)

That is about all I still want from EPs!

from my experiences other classes would not understand the idea of giving a beastlord that ring. Yes it would help us heal our pets greatly. But very many dont see the little hybrids that give those small heals that keep up others when the preists are in their CH lines. which really i dont get if a cleric is just CHing all day on a raid where this focus excludes CH /shrug.

Ring's nice, yeah.  Mantle from Time is BST usable too and better heal, but unless I'm wrong it's also the top healing focus...so....have to skip it.

DKP is a lovely thing.  Especially if you raid a lot and are always there for your guild.  Unfortunately, DKP is easily abused by a lack of game knowledge and greed.  Every Time clearing I see somthing drop that would be an upgrade and I can easily outbid people on, but since I know we wouldn't be in Time if it was just me always getting upgrades, I pass.  Too many people use DKP and don't realize that by looting ItemX over GuildieY, they hurt the guild more than they help themselves.

I'm not trying to flame any one, just something that came to mind.

Ring's really sweet.

EP wise, I'd say Puresteel Wraps, FRo Tunic, Cloak of Combustion, Wristband of the Rathe, Clawed Earthcrafter's Hoop, Ring of Algae, Moss Encrusted Band, Dumul gloves, feet, arms, maybe 1 bracer.

Some other items look nice, but if you're heading for Time and are fairly certain you'll get your share, I'd skip them.  Zhas for instance is such a marginal upgrade in DPS over a REBB or a good pre-Time h2h combo, that it's not worth the DKP cost.  The FRo Tunic and Cloak of Combustion are great.  Personally I have them, but will be upgrading to Dumuls Chest Wraps and the Cloak with Veng3/Preservation of Xegony.  The Dumuls bracers are good, but don't panic if you're gonna be in Time.  There's 3 decent bracers and the 2 non-Quarm ones have always gone to new members/applicants for us.

I'm rambling, but when you're in a DKP guild it's always about having a plan gear-wise.  That way you don't waste points and you don't loot drops that better benefit others.  If it came down to items I "must have" from EP, I'd say Puresteel, Clawed, and Moss Encrusted.  I know I didn't really mention haste items, but that's just a personal thing.  Got a MM belt and never bothered to look into EP haste.

Good luck to yah.  :)

Given the option, what do you guys think. Fennin BP or Time BP?

I'm thinking Fennin BP assuming i can get a Cloak of Combustion for the nuke focus. I also don't hold a hell of a lot of hope in getting a bp pattern for a long while yet.

Any thoughts? What would you guys prefer?

Post by: Valsuvious on January 14, 2004, 01:45:04 AM
i would say whatever one that you think will benefit you the most.  Really, if your guild is just like most others.. you will kill Fennin alotof times beforeyou are even able to get to Time.  So, more than likely you will have a much better chance at getting his bp alot faster than you will in time.  Seriously, i would just go with that bp right now and worry about the time one later.  Five months of Time raiding will put most of your guild in bps (well, depending on drops and luck of course, my guild has just about everyone in leather, silk and chain, but still a bit lacking in plate).

I think everyone one of our recruits had silk and leather bps when we were in the elementals even before we got to Time.

Oh, and Rhaynne.... the Xegony wraps do drop, just not when you are online :)
