Yeah I have no idea, I asked this question in the CC forum but never got a reply.
Just an update, for anyone unaware.
Sony revised the level 80 versions to include a DoT that is not included on the level 75 versions, so Lockfang line do have a benefit now. :-)

Or possibly a larger detriment to use now, depending on how you look at it.
I think I have rank 2 bcs someone forced me to take it. I didn't spend the plat on rk1. I don't intend to ever cast the damn thing as it would be an annoyance and the dmg from the dot possibly being a killer if the mob that comes into camp pops me one, the mob the MA is on then dies and the pet turns around & procs the dot on it, right as the chanter's mezzing.
and yeah... this is something I can see happening with annoying ease. I hit hold a lot, but when we've got a scrum of mobs, i'm more likely to just hit attack again rather than hold, so there's a pause while the MA picks the next target, I get assist key hit and then hit pet attack key.
Just simply don't use it if your raid/group is mezzing things. Problem solved.
I just prefer to have Hobble on anyway since people don't snare as much as they used to.
*EDIT*: i kant typ so i rite on teh scren wif creyon :|
