Consumption of Spirit is a copy of Shaman's Cannibalization ability from level 86. Their current ability is close to three times that.

The trophy room raid was way out of tune that day. We kept dieing fast. Despite following the instructions and after the bane weapon phase, the npcs that were supposed to be kept apart kept triggering some proc that wiped the raid several times. At that point he locked everyone out of the room and did something. He awarded everyone present with 5 raid tokens which awarded us (at least me it did) the mino and siren mercs.

Consumption of spirit was the ONE thing i was really looking forward to in the upcoming update...
reading this really put me down.... 6800 mana every 3 min....With close to 100k manapool thats basically a fart in a storm...  If thats not a slap in the face, i dont know what is... I really hope they have a hastened AA planned that reduces that recast time to around 30 seconds...

/disappointed

Remember when we got Playing Possum? It was the basic feign death that monks had before any aa added to it. It was 80% success rate but after much petitioning and several expansions (and betas) we got not only upgrades (95% success rate now) but hastened aa as well.

I'm personally very happy with it. I was lucky to run it through the ringer in a raid situation and it helped immensely! I cast it whenever it was up (during scripts and such) and had a moment in-between spell rotation. In a 25-30 minute fight I managed to stay above 50 mana without any problems at all. It could always be better, but I'm not going to cry about free mana every 3 minutes.

Just because shaman are better at it, it's hardly a "slap in the face" to get a new ability. Consumption of Spirit works out to an extra 225 mana/tick if you use it constantly...that's nearly the same ballpark as focused paragon constantly used on yourself. Plus, used together, the hp regen part of paragon tends to cancel the hp loss from consumption.

As for Hastened AA, Shaman do have 4 ranks of it knocking 10 secs per rank, and I was including that factor when I estimated shaman's ability as triple. I don't think anyone is going to see 30 second recast times on this.

Do you really want it much faster? between mod rods and this, you could potentially run the risk of killing yourself with an ill-timed canni.

Quote- Beastlord, Magician, and Necromancer pets (level 96-100) have had their base HP and AC reduced slightly. Halved the AC and HP advantage given to pets with the most basic focus (Enhanced Minion VII) and adjusted the later ranks accordingly.
I didn't see this nerf coming, nor do I have any feel for the impact at higher focus levels. It likely affects mages far more than beastlords or necros, simply because our typical pet playstyles differ.

- All existing player-castable pet block buffs have had damage caps added to them. These values should easily exceed damage from group content of the appropriate eras:
- - Set a damage cap per hit on Ward of Calliav of 11747.
- - Set a damage cap per hit on Guard of Calliav of 12922.
- - Set a damage cap per hit on Protection of Calliav of 14214.
- - Set a damage cap per hit on Bulwark of Calliav and Feral Guard of 15635.
- - Set a damage cap per hit on Mammoth-Hide Guard of 17198.
- - Set a damage cap per hit on Aegis of Calliav of 17198.
- - Set a damage cap per hit on Dragonscale Guard of 18918.
- - Set a damage cap per hit on Bulwark of Tri'Qaras of 18017/18467/18929.
- - Set a damage cap per hit on Aegis of Kildrukaun of 18918.
- - Set a damage cap per hit on Spectral Rampart of 19580.
- - Set a damage cap per hit on Beastwood Rampart of 20265.
- - Set a damage cap per hit on Beastwood Ward of 22902.
This one I mentioned at the start of the thread, now it's quantified. The numbers are high enough to make little difference on group targets, but it could matter in raid situations.

I'm not surprised given how amazingly I'm told pets are tanking this expansion.  I'm sad to hear about the rune spells though...I would like to see something like the original ones stay un-capped and the newer ones w/ cap, lasting for more hits and w/ the faster cast.  Oh well.
