When I am not grouped with others in the guild and whatnot I tend to "solo" (read 3 box) in Sunderock or the Steppes. I would like to move north as it were but other then hitting a few camps with guildies am not overly familiar with IFG or DW. Are there spots in either zone that come to mind as being a decent challenge for a small group to handle while having some decent returns in terms of xp, spells, etc?

Really depends on the group.  I hunt the boneyard in direwind with a couple of friends, but it really depends on the kind of gear & AAs you have on your alts.

It's all undead, so pallies and necros rule it.

I normally hunt with me (75 beast) and a friend boxing his 75 Pally and 75 Cleric.  Throw in another pally with the slay undead AAs and you can stomp the camp flat faster than they can respawn.

The mobs don't hit all that hard.  I TM spares with my 75 beast till the pally gets done with his, and I'm just middle geared (Qvic stuff, some raid drops and some pieces from MPG trials, plus a few left over DoDH pieces).

What level of pullability do you have?  What're your three boxes?

Try the Griffon camp in DW.....you can pull with beastlord easily with out any trouble of adds.....I usually camp it on north side of camp however there is a mob that pathes by camp so you would have ot keep track of respawn timers you can however use the druid to Root CC...i am sure you can find a safe camp without too much trouble.
