15 Hours and a call from Smedley later...

I initially received an email from Alan "Brenlo" Crosby, getting a feeler for the situation and getting my phone number.

Alan then called to briefly talk to me, and let me know that Mr. Smedley would like to talk to me about a few things. I was also invited out to a "Guild Summit" coming up next Friday that is designed to have some of the guild and community leaders come out and help SOE get the game back on track by voicing their concerns.

Shortly after Brenlo and I got off the phone Smedley called to talk to me about the game in general, my concerns, Omens of War, etc. I would seem to me that SOE has gotten their wake up call. They are ready to take a step back and try to nail down the problems with the game.

Chief among the info he gave me is that Omens is going to be pushed back 6 weeks, and the time between now and then will be used to correct the issues in the game. Not stuff like class balance etc, but fixing bugs etc.

OoW delayed by 6 weeks now.

Oh joy. Leaders of superguilds, and webcomic writers gathering together with a bunch of clueless SoE boobs to work out the kinks in the game.

Why the hell don't we just turn hte game into a checkers MMORPG?

I have to admit, as much as I think Woody is funny, I am not comforted by Smed soliciting his vision for EQ. It's like Seinfeld and Chris Rock advising the UN.

Hell, just hold a lottery. Or hire a statistician and do a random sample.

Barring that...MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE TEH "WTF" GUY!!1

Frankly, the "leaders of superguilds" probably have more of a clue what is wrong with EQ than most.  Just because some can be egocentric and/or condescending doesn't mean they aren't smart.  Frankly, any person who can hold a guild together through the series of broken content that EQ throws them gets my props.

That depends on the leader. Does every superguild leader care about the life of the bazaar player? The small-guild raider? The soloist? Doubtful. Do they care about the quality of high-end raid content? Probably.

I'm having trouble imagining Furor saying "I gotta tell you, the mid-30's are a little lonely these days. How about some GM events tuned to that level?". I can easily picture him giving a detailed breakdown of flaws in GoD encounters, with a list of the exploits used to counter them.

I'd agree that superguild leaders tend to have some combination of intelligence, charisma, and drive. But in addition to those, discussing the balance of the WHOLE game requires perspective. Which is not a necessary trait for guild leaders, in my experience.

/shrug there is so much stuff for people in that level range already that there is no chance of doing most of it before leaving that level range.  The nice thing about that level of content anymore is that the level of gear required is relatively minimal.  The same cannot be said of the level 65 game.

Petland is 1000x worse than Petco. The incidents are isolated with Petco also.

As for the moving of it sometimes it takes a big voice to get notices. The forums and communities have been screaming for 6 months now to fix stuff that has been broken for more than 2 years. It wasn't until one voice was able to bring the masses together to push such a boycott that they listened. Since Furor is gone from EQ no one else is bringing people together like that. I couldn't stand Furor, but he was good at getting people to band together and push SoE to fix things.

Know what I want? I want Cazic Thule returned to the lowbies.

Know what I don't want? 30 different takes on Overthere.

Which one has SoE given? I mean, really, the high-end crowd is always going on about how "there's enough lowbie content, give us more!", would they be happy with 14 LDoN raid clones that drop nothing but plat?

There is no low-end game any longer. People level to 65 in a week now. No one wants to stay in their 30s like we did. It took me 5 months to go from 50 to 60 on my first character. Now you can be 65 and 200+ AA in that time. I agree more high-end content, but not necessarily more EP/Time/GoD equipped high-end content. Make more Grummus/AD type stuff for the casual players that just want to enjoy the game.
