I'd guess extremely high.

Hell, one that really interests me is the permanent EB one.  But, that will be a LOT of AA.

General Breath AA: 1,1,1 AA points
GoD Breath AA: 3,6 AA points
Permanent Breath AA: 9 AA points?? Seems the progression.

21 AA just to get permanent EB is quite high =/

I'd prefer if they scrapped suspends minion as it will be and make it 4 levels instead of 3.

Level 1: Same as current (no buff suspend)
Level 2: Zone with a no buff pet
Level 3: Same as previous 2. Suspend a pet with buffs. Buffs will drop off pet if you zone while suspended.
Level 4: Zone with a buffed Pet.

The reason i'd prefer this is due to the level at which you can currently learn Suspend 2. I'd rather give lower level bst's a chance to zone with the pet just due to the hassle of dealing with invising/suspending/zoning.

I thought the same thing of Roar of Thunder, how useful could that possibly be? Then I thought, what if it's a pet proc, like hobble of spirits... that might actually kick ass if it can stun mobs higher than the current limit of lvl62.

...and /pet focus? I don't see how this is that desired an ability. Only occasionally will this be an issue, and paying attention to your pet and having /pet hold is usually sufficient.

GoD for me=Weapon affinity, Pet affinity, W Alarcity, W Fury, maybe Sinister tho it leaves something to be desired.

GoD was ok... its just... as far as defining AA.. like mr. imgoingtomorphintoaHUGEversionofmypetbiggerthanthemobwearefighting.... welll that wasnt really great.

I like the new Def AA and improved Paragon, woulda liked a better bst only aa... but heh, gotta take what you get.

Lots of stuff looks like im going to like aa wise here... just as was GoD... but doubt ill like OoW at first.. just like I didnt GoD.

Then again... I like passive upgrades.. if they give noticable difference.

I like them, I think the beastlord is a well balanced class already and the aa's we get reflect that. I like that we just keep trundling along getting better at what we do each expansion.

Could be worse some other classes just got upgrades etc to old aa's and to give them a "new" one they nerfed an old one...  That showed a real lack of imagination  :?

There's a large amount of stuff I'll probably buy there - enough to keep me grinding AA for at least the next year or two. Perhaps you wanted spells do 25% less hate, and.... Health sharing with pet or ?

Itd make me happier if they took out the stun, and gave us something fun... at least.  A longer lasting snare on the pet(double the duration of the snare to about a minute, not 30 sec) or it stacking with rellic would have been nice.  Or some new aa woulda been cool.  Thats my only real beef.. rest of the passives are kinda what I expected.  Just lacks that cool class aa.... replaced by something no one will get or use likely*

QuoteIts very unoriginal. 2000 monkeys typing on 2000 typewriters could have come up with a better list of aa's for us.

/agree to that

I just looked over at lucy, roar of thunder (the new stud+dd) has 3 levels to it.

500dd / 1 sec stun
1000dd / 3 sec stun
1500dd / 5 sec stun

This begs the question to me of what its reuse time is.  All 3 resist against magic -100.

I would suggest that you personally veto OoW until they give you exactly what you want. The rest of us will just have fun.

Whats your problem? Some people arent happy with the list. Last I looked they pay the same monthly you do to play.

That is a very nice upgrade to Paragon.  I'm hoping I can train the first level of it at 66.  I'd be willing to bet you have to be 69 or 70 to cap it though.

Yes, yes they do. It just annoys me that they choose to take the kind of attitude that you see from the fat kid in harry potter when he found out he got 35 presents instead of 38. I repeat, don't like it, then don't buy it. Whining like it's the end of the world that we didn't get xxxx in this expansion is just sad. Be happy with what you DID get ffs.

Though the Origin, Greater Sinister Strike are yummy too :)
Roar of Thunder: 1500dd/5sec (works up to lvl 70)...Prolly gonna have a semi long reuse time.. id estimate about 1min like Feral Swipe.. and you'll prolly need to be lvl 69 or 70 to get the 3rd stage RoT, so it won't be uber, but it'll be very nice :)

Im disappointed too that we dont get the much asked for deaggro ability, instead we get more aggro, something that is not very good for the worst tanking melee class there is (and i dont expect that the tanking will change in respect to other classes).

The only thing i HOPED we would get in OoW, was some kind of aa-based Feign Death. could have been several minutes re-use on it as well. just some way we can do like our monkey brothers do.

and to the whiners, i bet you guys whined like hel when oow, came out, and when pop came out. Think about it, there's almost 1000 aa's available to us now when oow is released. it's near impossible to give us more stuff that nobody would expect. It's near impossible to come up with new stuff without making it too powerful.

The DD/ Stun aa sounds really really nice. instant cast 500/1000/1500 dd, 5 sec stun, max lvl 70... amazing. My guess is that it will be nerfed though.

other than that, being able to zone with suspended pet sounds nice. wish there was a way the ui could show if you have one suspended or not though.

72 minutes reuse (currently) not bad enough ? if it lands and gets not resisted its 0.34 dps

with 3 minute (what it should be) reuse it would be 8.3 dps and acceptable, but it probably will go the way of feral swipe

Instead of Roar of Thunder i would love to get some deaggro thing. We have no way of real aggro control and at the moment beastlords create way too much of it. I have to use several different weapon setups depending on what classes are in the raid and which tank is tanking at the moment, dont think thats really the way it should be (oh, and no dotting at all, only one nuke).
Title: OOW AA
Post by: Sikelik on August 21, 2004, 03:53:28 PM
but looking at your magelo, you have ED in primary, the 750 dd proc from that one with some combat effects items and wa5 means nothing but agro though. if you had a different weapon-setup that would replace the proc dps with melee dps instead you wouldn't have that big issues getting agro i think. on your wishlist, you have jagged onyx staff in offhand. that combo would mean a lot less agro, and similar dps to ED+SoTA

one of my guildies uses an Ethereal Destroyer, and Cudgel of Wreckling. even though i outdamage him with straight up melee, he outagro's me, due to the lifetaps/heals on himself, and the 750 dd.

-----

72 minute is pretty lame indeed. i wish they would lower it to maybe 12 minutes on first rank, 8 minutes on 2nd rank, and 4 minutes on 3rd rank. also perhaps lowering the resist mod by 33 each level, so that the  3rd and final level has a 1500 dd, 5 sec stun, and -200 resist adjustment, every 4 minutes.

Hi, lifetaps dont agro much at all, been proven.  And that setup he has might just be for the magelo ya know?

And to those who say we shouldnt complain?  Dont read the boards.  This is a forum to express ourselves.  Like it or dislike it.  You do NOT want to become an ignored class like clerics.  The only way to get things changed is to complain about it over and over(see:druids).  We have problems!!!  Life for Beastlords in EQ is not hunky-dory all of the time.  Some of you may not know about these problems due to the level you play, others might know but just dont care.  But telling us to shut up?  Last I looked there were moderators here who were the ones supposed to say that kind of thing and unless youre one, take some of your own advice.

And just what did we get with OoW aa's as of yet?  The same thing other classes got except for Improved paragon and this crap dd/stun.  Yes, I think its crap.  Im allowed to think that way and express myself just as youre allowed to like it.  Am I telling you to stop liking it?  No.  But allow me to express myself in the case that devs might read this and understand that its not appreciated by some.  Look at some other classes and the number of unique aa's they were given and come back and  say with a straight face that you dont think we were overlooked.  As we have learned, now is the time to speak up.  Maybe if we were so fervent about Group IOS(Tureptan Spirit) we would have had a heal instead.  But now we're stuck and most beastlords who can loot the stone for the spell turn in dont need group ios.

i think the main problem is, the only NEW AND UNIQUE aa we get is roar of thunder, a dd/stun thing, which will likely end up as usefull as feral swipe.

all the other aa's people are excited about are shared with just about every other class.

the paraon upgrade is nice, but its hardly new and unique.

that bein said, it IS the first stages of beta, and a bit early to pass definitive judgment ;p

/Shrug. I always thought that if you had something to bitch about, you make a thread in the rants section (which you did, cong!) Yes, the roar of thunder aa is our only really new aa, and yes, last thing we need is more agro, but constructive criticism is always more welcome by the people who make the decisions than saying monkeys could do better.

I fully agree - bsts dont need a stun. We need a de-agro. The other aa's we share with other classes, well, I love the look of em. I dont give a hoot if other classes get them, as far as I'm concerned, every unique AA we get that is good is basis for the other classes to whine about how lucky we are, and thus draw negative attention to ourselves. Of course we are gonna get lots of aa's that the other classes get - we are a hybrid. If i could be bothered to check dictionary.com it'd say hybrid: combination of various classes (well it wouldn't, but something like that).

Maybe if we bugged Tastian enough he'd put an email through to Sony about it. I still maintain, however, that there are better ways of getting a point across than acting like a spoilt brat.

No, that setup isnt for Magelo, its the one i like to use because its highest dps of the weapons i have. I tried SotA/Timeweaver and draw nearly the same aggro for less dps, still use it sometimes for fun. If i need low aggro however i have to replace the ED with DoD and then my dps really sucks.

The aggro problem of bsts is a point on our top 10 list for a reason and that we get a stun as an answer is somewhat funny.

I just hit 700AAs, and even if I use SPF and Mallet, as opposed to my Staff of Tran., I still get a lot of aggro sometimes, even w/out using DoTs.

Serisouly, we are one of the only dps type classes to not get some sort of deaggro.....Evasive/fade/fd/jolt/concussion are all the deaggro things we're getting left out on. I'm tired of cutting my dps to not get aggro.

I wouldn't mind Roar of Thunder so much if we did get some aggro reduction ability, but we don't have one. Getting one should be a number 1 priority, imo.

Today in plane of fire, we were doing one of the charm birds and right near the end of the fight the tank was charmed and then  there were 4 deaths... ALL beastlords. agro switched from one of us to the next until we were all on the ground in a mess.

I think we really need something to help us along with this agro issue.

would have thought that with the pushing back of oow by a few months would have resulted in a better ideas.  DD/stun aa is next to worthless regardless of reuse time.  Too long a reuse and when it gets resisted(and being MR it will be resisted ALOT) you just burned a 72 min item for no use and tons of agro.  And if it has a low reuse, its TONS more agro on top of the issues we already have in that area.

Doing whatever that ae silence bird is in air, with auto attack and landing maybe 2 casts of the top 2 nukes, I usually manage to pull agro off the tank.  There is something despratly wrong with this, when you pull more agro than the rogues without doting or slowing.

GoD AAs were a disapointment for me, and as of yet oow has offered nothing of intrest for me to shell out $30  for more half thought through spells aa and zones..

Ability: Advanced Pet Discipline
Description: The first rank of this ability allows you to give your pet a ""focus"" command so it will not attack any opponent other than ones you directly order it to. The second rank allows you to tell your pet to not cast any spells. Usage: /pet focus, /pet nospell.

Seems just a copy paste from another clase, but I guess NO beastlord will take level 2 of that AA. Level 1 is cool though - to add to the "attack" macro. Why do we have to spend AAs to get that though ?

The best AAs in that list are the all/all ones, especially the "gate" and the "delay death" ones.

About "Mystical Effects" I have no clue - thats perhaps something new to that expansion.

Well, if it stops pet procs as well, I can see some very limited uses for this as a Beastlord pet, primarily if you suddenly find yourself kiting something and don't want your pet diverting agro to itself...when I was doing kiting groups I'd have to stop using pet procs altogether, and you don't have that luxury if it's an "emergency kite".

Having said that, no way would I buy this AA just for that reason...at least not until all others had been purchased.

This is exatly our issue. Why should rogues get to do the imense dps with little risk if they keep up with evade, when we draw much more agro doing substantially less dps?   And from the new lines of AA's that we are seeing here,  nothing mitagates the hate we get, and just things like a stun are not what will help keep us from death on tank changes.

The AA for us just seem lame and uninspired at this point.   The last thing I want is another skill like feral swipe that remains broken forever.  We got shafted with the 2 bst only AA lines in GoD, and it looks no different here.  While acouple of the all class AA look pretty good, I would be highly sceptical of their  use once cost is factored in. If GoD is any example they will be very high costs for diminishing rewards.
