Don't know if this is what a friend had, but I did notice that his pet was quad hitting for 89s.

There are 3 items with this effect, all which cause the max hit for the pet to be 89.

Symbol of Ancient Summoning - Bert (in Time)
Ruby Ring of Embellishment - Primals (in Yxtta I think)
Flamestone of the Arcane - Ikkinz (Chambers Of Destruction)

All are extremely tough to get to say the least.
