Title: Ferocity and the Solo Beast
Post by: Chubaka on April 27, 2004, 02:26:00 PM
The question is..... should I drop 10k on Ferocity if I mostly solo.

Is there any parses on DPS boost?

600 mana is alot for only 6.5 minutes ( well plus 15% EE IV, anf 5% SCR 1 )  My stamina is already maxed out self buffed.  I don't really fight casters so the resists arent very important.

That leaves the 150 ATK.  My ATK buffed up is like 1250.

All I can say is yes.  When I'm soloing I use less mana when I Fero myself, because I kill stuff that much faster.  Keep in mind that it's actually right at about 200 ATK because of the bonus melees get to ATK.

Coprolith's DPS calculator tells me I lose 12 DPS from weapons when I do not use Fero (my ATK is right at the same point yours is).  12 DPS is more damage than an extra Frost Spear per minute, and 6-7 frost spears cost you more mana than does Fero. :)

Haven't run parses to see if it's worth Feroing my pet as well.

I've always tended to not use Fero while soloing, unless I had a KEI or other mind buff to help keep up with the mana cost.  Maybe I should play around with it a bit more... what the extra dps saves me in heals might be worth the mana it costs to keep it up.

Yeah fero is worth it.  I remember posting some results of even savagery back in the day.  Sav was more than worth the mana cost + dot to me.  Fero being only 10k (pretty low for some servers) and not taking a regant is amazing.  I've also got some parses in the works of fero on pet, so let ya know soons T 8P

Well.....plugging 200 ATK straight into that dps calc, you aer right, 11 dps boost.  THat is an extra 660 damage per minute.  Sounds sweet to me.

Someting is broken with that calculator though.  No matter what I change the procs to, the dps does not change.

Dumb question, but did you turn off the macros?

nope.  I enabled the macros.  If I change weapons or skills like ambi or sinister strikes, the numbers change.  Just nothing to do with procs changes.  Like I can change it to WA5 and no dps increase.

Yep, Fero is usually worth every bit of mana, unless you have like 75% downtime, or really sucky weapons, like 2 PSUs at 65 (which nobody has of course, bare fists at 13/27 is the absolute minimum)

Not too mention the extra resists from Fero make it all the more attractive to kill caster mobs, who somehow never seem to catch on and insist on nerfing their own melee dps by casting spells that never land  :D

Quotenope. I enabled the macros. If I change weapons or skills like ambi or sinister strikes, the numbers change. Just nothing to do with procs changes. Like I can change it to WA5 and no dps increase.

Weird, cuz there's nothing wrong at my end. Proc rates wont change for DEX values above 255, it's coded that way, but WA and SCF are working just fine. Could be there's an Excel version conflict, or you've inadvertently typed over a formula somewhere.
I suggest downloading the latest version (again if you already have it). If the problem persist I can rule a few possibilities at least.

/hugs

This is probably the wrong area to be going on about the dps-calc but sincec your looking at it here.........hhehehe

I redownloaded it from http://members.chello.nl/~pg.deheij/dpscalc.zip

When it starts in exel I click enable macros. Version is Exel 2000, 9.0.3821 SR-1

Still nothing changes when I change the proc related stuff.  WA, SCF, Augs, etc.  I even tried typing in the proc damage at 500.  no change

In short, YES!  10K for a 65 spell is a bargain IMO.  I don't have a parse but DPS definately went up.  I have a pull cycle in Torgiran Mines that was just right pre-Fero.  Now I can pull 2-3 more mobs before repop.

Wow!  Great price Chu!

And as someone mentioned already . . . additional DPS aside . . . the resists make a HUGE difference IMHO.

Ok after several days of use.  I like.
Soloing in sirens I notice that when i do not use it, I take way more damage because they take longer to kill.

If you solo in Taelosia the resists will help you with the annoying mob procs too.

will just add that now after DoD and stuff this spell is still very usefull. the att is less usefull since lelees att is generally 50% higher tan when the spell first saw the light. but along with resists it sure have its place.
