I could have posted this in another section but its just  a ramble realy.

I was looking over our new OoW stuff on Lucy the other night, and considering that they are not final I can safely assume that they are close to the mark.

What dawned on me is that potential for us to experience a change in gameplay.

My reason for this revolves around ferocity for starters. Now that we effectively have another fero spell on tap (which isnt much different realy) this means to me that we now can squeeze 6-7 in on a standard rotation. In the duration of lets say a long encounter i'll waste at least 6-10 seconds casting that spell, ie. finding target casting then re-engaging, sure i could get it quicker but I don't like rushing.

So now we have an additional 3-4 targets for Fero i'm effectively loosing a potential minimum 1min of Dps. In my books thats alot for a dps class. That one minute may not appear to be much but it would certainly shift our realistic dps (not calculated) considerably.

Another way to look at it will be we potentially will be casting Fero every 30secs, and for every 30secs we copuld be wasting 6-10seconds.

This is based on my experiences in a low BL count guild though.

I appreciate Fero for what it is indirectly, particularly the fact that in my opinion that its the best raid buff period based on resists alone, plus that fact that it makes a considerable difference to raid dps.

I played the BL after being many 'other' classes previously, what appealed to me was the ability to offer a melee input to a party/raid, it just appears to me that this is being slowly taken away from me.

or am I just looking at it negatively?

I guess I'll just wait and see.

Disclaimer: its not this spell that I have a problem with, by all means I'll welcome any upgrade to it, its just the implications of another version being available to various classes.

low duration, high power single target spells, may seem nice on paper, I find them tedious after the freshness has worn off

Maybe they should have made the next fero have a longer duration and instead of atk have a dmg mod.

I only use Fero for the resist boost. So I normaly end up feroing clerics druids and group members with low resist. Apart from feroing for resist I only fero on request if its up and I'm not already doing a fero rotation. So usualy people don't bother to ask me unless they really need it.

Sometimes though its fun to fero a rogue and see them go splat.

"Sometimes though its fun to fero a rogue and see them go splat."

Fero won't make a rogue go splat.  Aggro is generated based upon the swing and the person/weapon not upon the actual damage you do with that swing.  Getting +500 atk won't increase your aggro at all melee wise.

Hrann

Wow really Tastian?  That's a good bit of information - I know many warriors that want Fero specifically because they think it makes them do more damage = more aggro.

Also, not that I doubt you, but do you have a link handy with a discussion of this?  If it was on this board I can search around.

Thanks Aneya!  Very interesting stuff there...

Yeah it's just another misconception.  Some of the data is in that thread.  Also the SKs have a nice right up and some of my data has been sprinkled around various boards from this one to the shm boards.

My fero'n of warriors is directly tied to the resist value and in some cases the +sta or in the case of something like xegony where the warrior is most of the dps on her lol.

Fibbs

Yeah exactly what I'm using it for at this stage, resists on tankers, with the atk value being used as a secondary.

Like I was saying there, I like the spell, it should be used but being in a full time raid guild I'm not looking forward to the casting every 30secs over an 8hour raid session. I'll feel like a bard if it gets any worse hehehe 8P

Back when i got Fero and my guildies still asked for it i actually bought me a small timer to not miss the recast time since i always missed it without. It becomes tiresome to refresh Fero every 2 minutes on some other target and with the new upgrade i would have to do it even more. Nice thing is that not many ppl bother to get it anymore, not even for resists. Part of it is ignorance although i say it often enough in /gu that it has +65 resists to all and 40 sta (which is about 200 hp for me in Uqua) but all who ask are old rogue friends.

It would be nice to get a longer duration on the fero upgrade but i dont think that will happen.

feralize

It would be nice if they just got rid of the stupid refresh time. At least that way it would easier to track when it fades off of other people. Fero yourself and two or three others then wait 9 minutes while you get your mana back  :P

Hehe.  I try to avoid having a fero rotation at all costs.  I can never remember to refresh the darn thing.  So I try not to remind them I have the spell.  Sometimes rogues remember and ask me for it though  :(

Fero is mostly a pain in the ass for sure.

I agree with all the points made:

1) Long recast makes it tedious.
2) Short duration makes it tedious.
3) At some point your resists will be good without it.
4) Fero rotations due to point 1 and 2, are a distraction.

A decent way to deal with Fero would be to make a Hotkey, to target and cast Fero, and have it target someone who seems to really benefit.  Rogue, Ranger, Monk, whatever.  Do them, and yourself.

Also, if for some reason, you simply must go bonkers and do as much Fero as you can, dont be shy with Savagry.  Just keep a few stacks of Peridots for this occassional need.  Its a LOT easier to run a rotation on numerous people if you do so.
