Creeping up on lvl 60 and was wondering how people use this spell. Do you use this spell normally or just for something hard type of stuff? Noticed a comment Tastian had in a post below (Feroctiy and the Solo Beast) about using it and it being worthwhile. I guess my thought is if you are able to take out an extra mob or two over what you would have done during the same time it pays for itself. I 2 box a same level Druid and play style is usually me(s) or maybe a small group. Haven't done a LDoN in a while now that I think about it but wonder at how best to offset the cost vs reward in a pickup adventure. Appreciate any thoughts. Hopefully haven't missed a thread talking to this subject.

Savagery still uses a Peridot as a reagent, so keeping it up all the time would get pretty expensive.  It's probably best used in situations where you know ahead of time you're going to want all the atk and resists you can get.

Ferocity (once you get it) is a different story - I keep it up most of the time.

Simply put savagery was worth the money for me.  I had SCR3 and EEIV.  A dot costs ~10plat, so you are looking at ~60pp an hour.  I'd have to work to find a spot where I couldn't make atleast 60pp an hour.  The boost in attack is great(especially if it clears the magic number) and the resists are amazing too in certain spots.  For instance, doing a spot like fungus grove using savagery you become almost immune to the shroom spells (stun, slow, shroom+dd), and they drop various trash that nets you ok coin.  I'd just randomly loot the bodies on the ground near me and at the end of the night run over to the dot merchant in the zone and sell off/stock back up.  It's not for everyone, but it's a huge power boost and even if you don't keep it up full time because of mana issues or whatever I always found it to be a nice use of mana.

Ok Tast - what's the magic attack number? Read the boards a good deal but must have missed this =(. Does it have to do with personal DPS parse or more of a get agil over 75/AC softcap/etc type thing?

Ummmm.... it's like 1250 or something I honestly forget and don't have my notes with me atm.  Clearing that number is what allows you to hit for max damage with your weapon though.  Before that figure (1275? 1293? grrr can't recall atm) You simply won't hit for your max damage.  Tested this so long ago, but basically you could see max hit of 202(ish) then savagery yourself and see max hits of 220(ish).  Shame the old boards are gone,  we lost a lot of old information.  I'm sure cop has the number or it's somewhere on this board, but with the patch and all I don't have time to get you a definite number atm.  Almost certain it's right around 1250 though.

If you find it you find it. Those numbers are close enough for me. Think savagery would put me just shy of them. Many thanks.

Might be close, remember that savagery doesn't add just 100 atk, but actually adds ~133 atk because of the bonus.  I remember savagery put me over the atk number at 60 when doing shrooms, but other gear will factor into that.

At a guess, not too many Beastlords have SCR3 and EEIV at 60 these days.  Most people will end up paying 100pp an hour for peridots to keep it up constantly, and needing KEI for additional mana regen if they're using it solo.  Is it worth that?

Well - sometimes, yes. (particularly if you've been playing some other class before Beastlord and have cash to spare)

That's why I said it was clearly worth it to me.  Even at 100pp an hour it's well worth it in several spots.  I know you can easily cover the cost of dots and still turn a pp profit in spots like FG, velks, griegs, nurga well using savagery even unfocused/AA'd.  I'm not saying everyone should use it full time, in fact I know that some people just use it when they have the mana, it's a mana efficent means of doing damage in most cases and even if you just use it 2 or 3 times an hour (20-30pp) you still get some use out of it, help with the break or that harder mob, etc.  I find a lot of people worry about the dot at first, but once they use it a few times they really notice when it drops.  In spots like FG and nurga and other caster(ish) spots the resists alone were worth 100pp an hour to me, but again, it all depends as usual.  8)
