Anyways, I'm workin on the epic. I've heard a few people say that the dense fungal padding could be had near the zone line...which zone line are they referring to? I went in tonight from Echo, and all I found were small shrooms. After killing about 25 or so, I didnt see any padding.
With the gems, I've heard folks say they can drop from any Xi____. Does this count 4 arms (Xin Thall Centiens, etc) AND the big robed guys (Xi Xauis, etc)? Got 3 belts, and 2 medallions, but not one single gem...and we were there for a loooong time. This was at AR dome, btw.

Yes the shrooms near echo drop the padding.
I got my gems from the robed guys. I don't think the 4-arms drop them, but I could be wrong.
The shrooms near the zone are the correct guys, I got mine off the 11th or 12th kill but that quickness was made up later at my Perfect Acrylia Ore and my Gem of the Void camp.
And to my knowldege just the robed Xi _____'s can drop it, but I did not kill any of the others.
Stick with it, these can be long camps.
Yeah you just had a bad day. Ive helped friends get theres. Sometimes we get one on the first kill. Others I've seen about 50 kills before the first drop. It's purely random. Just keep trying for them. It's still good exp for 60+ people wanting a solo spot. After the revamp, most all mobs from Echo side are single pullable. They also no longer see through invisibility. Random named spawn anywhere that a regular mob does. I killed some named shroon last time I was there. It dropped a nice back item. He was LB to me at 65. Dropped this, Fine Dark Cloak (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=23007) which was nice.

I got my gems from the robed Xi's at the AR zone-line in ME.
