Okay, so I went and pulled ALL NPC entries from Illia's bestiary and made a nice, big Access database (so I could use it at work, too - can't install mySQL at work... *sigh*).
Basically, I made a SQL query on the data to show ALL MOBs in ALL zones with a level range corresponding to the "low dark blue" /con range relative to my current level.
I.E. - My current level is 51, so I am searching for all "Animal", "Guard", "Monster", and "Undead" TYPE MOBs in all zones with a LOW-LEVEL range of 38-43 and a HIGH-LEVEL range of 38-46.
...but I did have a few questions.
01 - What is the exact/near-exact formula for MOB levels that are considered Dark Blue based on PC level?
02 - Would anyone be interested in a level-by-level report of what is within the PC's range... say in groups of 5 levels? ...kind of like an absolute end-all-be-all "01-65 leveling guide".
03 - Would anyone be interested in having access to this Access DB?
...of course, the DB will be amended once GoD goes live, but it is as current as Illia's is as of 09:00pm [CST] - 02-04-2004.
As a sample of what is available (in my specified range) at level 51... here are partial query results (I left off "TYPE", "LEVEL-LOW", and "LEVEL-HIGH" for this example):

I think the hardest question is not "Where are the dark blue mobs?" The hardest question is "Where can I find the lowest few levels of dark blue mobs without having to deal with lots of light blues or green?"
That question is not easily answered without references to specific camp spots and certainly not "answerable" if the mob database has no reference to which "camp" a mob resides. For example:
Is, say, Droga a good place for a level 65?
If you just look at whether there are dark blue mobs, the answer is yes.
But if you take into account the mob range of the zone, the answer might be no. (There are lots of greens and light blues in zone.)
But if you know that all the dark blues are clumped in the west end of the zone, mixed with may be 1/3 light blues, the answere might be yes.
[/list:u]
So I'd say, just having mob levels and zones are insufficient.
Ahh, very good point... initially, I had designed this only because I hate contested camps... and am looking for low dk blues ANYWHERE... and then do all the "extra" research after-the-fact.
BUT, it would seem something like a report that shows zone names and percentages of the different /con MOBs (ani/guard/mons/und) would be more useful.
For instance, at level 51, Acrylia Caverns has roughly 6% *possible* green spawns, 41% *possible* db spawns (28% low db - 13% higher db), ~0% even & yellow, and 54% *possible* red spawns. So eventhough the statistics are not entirely specific, it would give one the impression that AC is NOT a safe place to hunt at level 51.
...whereas at level 51, The Scarlet Dessert has roughly 7% green, 24% lb, 69% low db, ~0% higher con... which would lead one to believe this would be an ideal zone to hunt.
While this still does not address the "distribution" across the zone issue... I am trying to keep it as automated as possible - then again, I don't think it could ever be fully addressed as zones and spawn distributions are eratic.... ahhh, what a tough problem!
Hmmm... thank you for bringing that to my attention... I'll need to do some more work when I have some time.
A quick, unrelated nitpick - I think Noriko is thinking of Nurga, not Droga.
