Epic or no Epic question...

I have come up against a dilemma.

Tonight I won a Woven Shim Choker.  It is listed as 41% haste, which is the same as epic haste.  Both of my weapons make the epic ratios look a bit unappealing.

My question is... should I even bother with the epic now that I have a 41% haste item?

In terms of efficiency, no.. the offhand is useful for it's 125 HP and good resists for raids, but most good weapons have resists and a chunk of HP.  The mainhand is useful in situations like PoJ trials where the slow proc can ease the difficulty of the fight without spending the time to cast slow, but these situations are very rare.

In terms of 'completeing' your beastlord, I'd say go for it.. it's a fun quest and it feels good to weild the , IMHO, best looking weapons in the game.

I keep my epics on me all the time, my mainhand has the pet focus aug attached to it so I can free up my weapons  and range for other things.  When I'm loitering around with friends or doing what little Roleplaying I can come across I put them on for appearence sake.

Primary epic procs a 50% slow I believe, which is quite a bit more than what we have in our spellbooks at 55.  However, at 60 we get a better slow spell than what the epics proc...

Personally, at the moment I have a 31% haste item...if by the time I am 60 I have upgraded that to a 36% or 41% haste item I'll prolly skip the epic until I'm 65 with some AA's and try to solo the mobs just to say I've done it :)

55 pct slow actually =P

and at 60 we get a 50 pct slow...which is why the epic's had that Sha's Vengence effect on them in the first place.  However at 65 we get 65 % slow and yadda yadda, worth it to have it imo, it takes like 1 week if your doing it lazy style

If you have 41% haste, there's no way you should be using the epics, unless you just want to due to looks or a sense of roleplay.

It's not that simple - epic is 40% haste and 40 WORN attack, worn attack is like vengance 8, its not spell attack, and gives much more benefit to dps, might have to do some parsing, rangers have the same problem, their offhand epic effect is same as ours

Forget epic.  Its stat is horrible.

Man0warr, is that 40atk really going to make up the ratio disparity between my current weapon, Spiked Knuckles of Brawling, and the sub-par ratio of 13/22?

That is my biggest question.  I'm not too worried about the 125hp on the epic, I have plenty hp as it is.  Now that I have 41% haste, with my current weapons... 16/22 mainhand, 17/23 offhand... will that extra worn atk make a difference, or should I forget about the epic?  Until that is I have the time to stop leveling and make an effort to get it for "bragging rights" and style points/look.

Don't bother with the epic.  If I had a good haste piece of equipment I wouldn't be using it myself.  The damage ratio on both epic pieces just sucks too bad.  The only reason for you to get the epic is because you just really want to, not because you need it.  As soon as I get my next H2H upgrade (Battlefists) my epic will be officially retired.

By the way, your character is fairly obviously twinked so why don't you buy yourself Pristine Jeweled Gloves and possibly Gravediggers Arm Straps.  Rings like Cloudy Ring of Pneumatic Force and Steel Ring of Earthen Resilience come to mind too.  These would all be good, albeit somewhat expensive, upgrades to what you are wearing.  I think if you can afford the Giant Drum (why bother?) then they shouldn't be completely out of your budget.

Hehe Lev, those are not easy to come by even on old servers with lots of raid guilds.  Finding them is harder than affording them.

Believe me Levaril, I've been looking for them.  As soon as some Pristine Jeweled Gloves pop up for sale, I'll be the first to buy them...  As for the Gravediggers Arm Straps, I prefer the stats on Stonehide Arms so I am waiting to find some of those for sale, or purchase the items involved in the combine and have a GM tailor friend do the combine for me.  In regards to the rings, they would be nice and all, but in all reality with all these things, it comes down to function.  I don't deem those two rings that much of an upgrade to the valorium, however the PJG are top on my priority list.
