Title: 5th and last Elder Animist has been located..
Post by: Lestor on September 18, 2004, 10:38:35 PM
I found Diddugu in Western Wastes near the north end of the zone standing by some crystal formations.

When I found him, I considered him first off!

Diddugu scowls at you, ready to attack -- he appears to be quite formidable.

Hmm.. damnit.  Alas, I did not let this deter me, I was sure he was it!

I handed in the note, and he promptly replied:

Diddugu said 'I will do nothing to aid beings like you.'

That's a bummer. :(  Well, I was through with Mr. Diddugu yet.  I headed back to Muada and got another note.

This time.. I brought a friend with me.  I put the note into the Give NPC window, and had my friend grant me invisibility... He was indifferent to me then.  I hit Give.  Bingo:

Diddugu said 'Tanks.  You can have back.  Me spit 'n' smear dat so Muada know me see it. Me smudged it me thinks. Me trust no one! Me on big job now and no time. Me studying da [mastodon].  Dey hurt me lots, but me tuff with my warder. No match for me! Dey do survive da cold good and manage not to die wit all da wurms and da beasts here. Me try to learn to harness da power of dem.'

He handed the note back right away... I begged and pleaded with him to give up more information.. but he just scowled... Oh well.  He 'signed' the note and that was all that was important.  Back to Muada I went.  I handed him the note:

Elder Animist Muada said 'Greetings once again, Lestor. I am satisfied that you may now take on the greater challenges facing our kind.  The problem within the spirit world is far more serious than we had first thought and needs to be addressed.  It is time for you to take on your first task.  Do you [believe] you are ready to continue?'

I said, 'I believe'

Elder Animist Muada said 'At the eye of the storm in the sky, there are rumors of a hungry beast. It was once an surmountable spirit, but it has learned and aged and grown too powerful for anyone to tame.  Its spirit is imbued with a feral force that must be reclaimed by a beastlord.  You must release the savage energy it has absorbed and return it to me.  We will return it to the spirit world at once.  You must also find and bring me the remains of a disturbed spirit in a realm of night terrors. I need to understand what has infected those ethereal beasts of late. Bring both to me.'

And that was that.. I left Muada, and here I am to tell the story!

Details on Diddugu..

He's a troll, as everyone presumed.

He's in the northern regions of Western Wastes located at '4246, -93'.

If he's not KoS.. then lucky you!  Or if you're a Vah`Shir and can sneak.. by all means do so.

The safest way to get to him is by following the eastern short north, and continue along the north shore westard until you see him.  You'll probably see him before Jen Sapara.. but she's very close to him, and level 62.  So no touchy.

Good luck,

Lestor

I saw him yesterday, Alla said he had been there for a long time so I didnt bother running over :(

And about the next part, the one is pretty obviously PoN, but the other one sure as hell sounds like the eye of veeshan to me, and that would seriously suck.  Hopefully it just means the tornado in storms.
Title: Reaimns of Dristurbed Spirit
Post by: Camikazi on September 18, 2004, 11:19:20 PM
Regarding the second part of the message, the one talking about the remains of a disturbed spirit in the realm of night terrors, wella  druid friend of mine was soloing Nightstalkers in Nightmare and kept getting a lore no drop item called Disturbed Beast Essence. Seems like that might be what is needed, haven't had time to check so not sure if anyone has posted this already or not. The drop seemed rather common he was having 8 rot at one time, so it is a common drop from them.

Snuck behind Diddugu.  Besides the lines above, he responds to mastodon with:

"Geez.  No rest for me.  He he.  Must go.  You go to.  Dangerous for you here.  You not so tough!"

Tried other things and couldn't get him to say anymore.  Despawned after a couple minutes.

Vah Shir sneak worked fine on Diddugu. He was KOS, but nonaggro, to me. Be interesting to know if he's KOS to those friendly with trolls.

So that's what that thing was for.  I kept on getting Disturbed Beast Essence when I was killing the werewolves in PoN.

It is a VERY common drop.  I got one just about everytime that I killed them.  I'm glad that I have kept it then.  =D  Now to just get the letter.  ><

Try just doing the elders you haven't done first. I suspect they're really hidden flags, and you don't have to redo them.

Post by: Choppin on September 19, 2004, 12:10:36 AM
I forgot to try to con him with equipped epics and helm, maybe that makes him nonkos.

edit: I repeated the handin in overthere with a new letter and it acted as if I had not done it before

edit 2: I conned him with ehlm and epics  and still kos

I redid the turnin with a new  letter and the invis trick and it worked and Muada was satisfied when I handed him the new letter back (so I guess there are indeed hidden flags for already completed steps)

The ogre when you hand it in says he signed it sorta.  I think its a flag not an item change

although Id hate to have to see people go to PoA this early in the epic, I figure its at least worth suggesting.

I read this in the epic 2.0 forum

Raiding in Plane of Air dropped a
Quote
**Fierce Spirit Clay**
Magic Lore No Drop

From the phoenixs on phoneix isle.

These mobs are one groupable, only one dropped cleared whole island for the ring.

Sounds epic like who knows, posted just incase it crops up.

I doubt its what is needed for the first part, but worth suggesting[/quote]

I immagine a PoA drop would be epic 2.0 if its for anything.  I will say however, my guild ended up farming air alot and I never remember seeing that before.

The flag you get from turning in the letter to the elders is hidden. It is also part of your character, not the note. So just go get another one if you turned it in to troll without getting invis'd first. You don't need to redo all the elders if you lose your letter.

Got my Disturbed Beast Essence.

Aparently there is a new mob on Pegasus Isle in the plane of sky called "Eternal Spirit".  It looks like a normal pegasus.  I believe this is our next best lead.  It seems to fit the clue text about sky and living a long time.

Good luck to you if you get to try this out before me.

In the center area of PoStorms where the frogs are, the "eye" of the tornado in there may be a possible spawn point.  I'll see what find there in the morning, too tired to look atm.

Clearead about half the room there.

Got a tongue, that I'd wager was for Druid, was rejected on turn in.  Saw no odd named mobs, no repops with different names.  Nothing out of the normal.

Quoted from Shaman's Crucible:

Pegasus island.
Eternal spirit (it wanders)
Give it Potion of Sustenance.

I recieve: Talisman of wisdom

Eternal Spirit beams and looks at you with pride. 'Greetings, shaman. I am both glad to see you and somewhat sad. I know you are here to retrieve my talisman -- which is the reason for my weeping heart. I do understand the importance of taking it for the Ruchu. My heart does warm, though, at the sight of a shaman in pursuit of great things. I am envious. Here, take the talismin and proctect it with your life. I should like to see it again after all has been set right.

And there ya go.

Eye of the storm in the sky.  Bastion of Thunder imo; eye of the storm is the zone in for bot in postorms, and Bastion of Thunder is in the sky, if you go to the middle of the lake in postorms and look up you can see a mini BoT hehe.  I personally think it is here.  But which mob?  Perhaps one of the minis otw up to tower name?  I watched a group kill the two wolfs tonight, nothign odd dropped.
Title: 5th and last Elder Animist has been located..
Post by: Graace on September 19, 2004, 12:53:34 PM
Eye of the storm in the sky... leaves really 4 zones available for it to potentially be... Sky, Air, BOT, and Storms.  Thinking it over, and realizing that the essence dropped off the wolves in PON... we're probably NOT looking for a NEW NPC...

Storms is certainly shaped like an eye when you look at it's map, but in the center I found nothing new... and in the very center was one of the Hurricane tadpoles... not very fearsome or feral to me :P  However.... all those frogs might have just had something added to their loot table, just like the wolves in PON.

BOT, unless it's on the way up to Agnarr, I think we'd have probably heard about it by now, the Towers tend to be raided by someone every few days and I've never seen anything in there other than Elementals, Giants, and the 3 bees on the Sand giant end.  So really, unless it's the named wolves getting something added to loot table as a rare, or something on the bees... which we'd probably have heard of by now...

Sky has a few animals that I remember, pegasus and bees, but if it's not on peg. isle... only other thing that'd make much sense might be Eye of Veeshan itself possibly getting a loot added to it... but that's highly doubtful.  To boot, there's no "storm" there... just desolate floating islands...

Air I can't think of there being any storms there, there's various birds, but I highly doubt they'd require you to be elemental capable for 1.5.

Perhaps Maiden's eye, as the moon is in the sky... however Dumul's on the moon so that might not work either.

The eye of the storm...

Remember that the Akhevan city what destroyed by the Maiden's Scar that was summoned by Aten Ha Ra to stop her 'good' counterpart.

The current lore is that the eye of this major storm that threatens to come back to life one day settled over what is now called the Maiden's Eye.

I would suggest that this place would be the most likely area for the next part of our epic.

I have checked Maiden's Eye.

Ravenous Beast - Normal.
Spectral Wolf - Normal.
Xi Vius - Normal.
Xi Xaui - Normal.
Xin Thall Centien - Normal.

Nothing out of the ordinary. Except I found "Red Cloth" in the middle of the red pot in ME, a ground spawn. Never seen it before. Going to try and turn it in to Muada along with PoN piece.

EDIT - http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=62808

Storms....possibility?

EDIT 2 - Red Cloth is not a part of our epic.

I'm willing to bet it's in Maiden eye...  The clues seem to fit together really well for it.  We've already established Eye of the Storm for that zone.  "hungry beast"...  ravenous is a synonym for hungry.  'a ravenous beast' would seem to fit well here.  Either a rare drop or a rare spawn.  "It was once an surmountable spirit"..  This seems to indicate, to me, that it's a mob that was already in the game before, but has been changed.  That seems to point more towards a rare spawn on the ravenous beast.  Or maybe a named one hiding in the zone somewhere.

Haven't went to him yet, but sounds like he will be KoS to a Barb. Can I hand him the note, invis then hit trade (game might not let me cast with trade window up, not sure)? Or can I trade invised? Probably know the answers to both of these but can't remember:)

Just wondering if I have to drag along a friend for this step.

This is what I did.  I brought a chanter bot.  Ran up to him invis, letter on cursor and the cursor over my invis buff.  Cast invis on chanter declicked invis and quickly timed it to open up trade box and invis landed.  Don't turn it in straight up invis or you'll be having a nice trip back to Shar Vahl for another note like I did.

Cannot cast any spells or do any clickies while a trade window is open. If you try to open a trade window while already invised, you will appear however your invisibility buff will still be up. Go to different view and you can tell that you are no longer invis, or just con the person.

Saw this while I was looking about for clues

http//eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?zone=179

camped it and went to Muada and turned in them in one at a time and I was not allowed to turn in the other part. "You must turn in all quest items at once in order to complete this quest." was what i was told, not sure if it says that when you try to turn in just the part from PoN solo, or if the essence I got from Gunthak was for a later step.

If you are going to try for this, it is the drogmar near the castle zone in, there are 2 groupings then a few solo spawns along the left and right walls. Took me about 6 or 7 clearings with a 12 min spawn time to get 1 to spawn.

Just got the same thing.  Tried to turn my hat in with both and still got nothing.  I'm gonna go back to PoN for a quick second and try to get a few more disturbed beast essences.  Thinking maybe it takes multiples of that.  And they're easy/fast to get, so I'll try it.  If that doesn't work, that's either not our item or the quest is bugged.  I would hate to think it's the latter.

edit:  Okay, I'm an idiot.  They're both lore items, so it isn't that you need more than one.

Okay, item lore for the Swirling Feral Essence is: a wild and untamed essence.  Maybe it's not the item, although it the drogmor does seem to fit fairly well.  *sigh*  Hope the quest isn't bugged.

Edit:  I should things before I post. =)  Okay, apparently the drogmor isn't the right item.  When I turn Disturbed Beast Essence in by itself, I get the message bout turning all quest items in at the same time.  When I try to turn in just the Swirling Feral Essence on it's own, Muada hands it back to me and says he doesn't need this item.  Maybe that was posted above and I just misread it.

Maybe we are looking at this the wrong way.  We are all thinking about releasing something by killing it.  What if instead you are looking for some powered up animal, and then using a device or spell of some kind to drain it's excess energy and return it to normal.  Just a thought.

That was the idea with the Beast Tamer guy in Nobles.  I figure we'll turn in an item an item and some guy will either hand back a released essence or will spawn a harder mob that we need to kill.  Whatever the case, we need to find the mob.
