u make all globes in skyfire rotate (active) and a shade spawns, kill it and you get tons of books, a book yields some blood from the dragon at vp entrance and that you combine with old vp key in the container from the drake west of VP

drake west of vp entrance will recreate ur keyringed vp key.

I got no idea what you do if you dont have already ) .

Good luck Brothers and Sisters !

Thanks for the info, just a question do you need to kill the dragon west of vp for the container or just hail? and how do you get your keyringed key back exactly? hail?

Tastian

Enrid Ebonclaw says 'Combine the three major essences with that same dragon blood inside the powerless cipher to create the Cipher of Veeshan, your means of entering the peak. Also, you may have the original key's essence bound to your soul, so let me know if you would like me to [recreate the key].

Is there any text yet regarding the alternate quest (for those of us without the orignal key)?

Hey Skratchen!! How many times did slow get resisted on that last mob? Oh, three or four times...

Great news and thanks for the speedy info on this one. Perhaps finally I will see some respectful use for all the time my guild put into camping the mobs for the original key. I just hope they don't make it too easy for people to get the essences because it should reflect the time those of us already keyed spent in boring green/LB mob camps.

If they can do it with PoP zones for those who didn't earn the flags, I see no reason why some distinction shouldn't be made for those who put the effort into VP keys and experiencing the old world content before racing on to bigger and better things.

Only thing I hope is that they still have some kind of snare proccing weapon drop here - don't those of you who like to solo occasionally just wish you had done VP and got that before the changes now. I know I do.

QuoteYou receive some Brood Dragon Blood. Combine this in your Drained Cipher of Veeshan with either the Key to Veeshan or all three of Essence of Howling Stones (dropped from minis in Charasis, a.k.a. Howling Stones), something from Karnor's Castle (what? drop info needed too), and something else from Old Sebilis (what? drop info needed too) to craft a Cipher of Veeshan, which is both an all-types +30 HP/+30 MANA/+30 END augmentation and the new key to Veeshan's Peak. Once you enter Veeshan's Peak, it will be added to your /keyring.

Just to update this thread somewhat;
3 essences drop in: Chardok *could also be Howling Stones I've heard - need more info* (random rare), sebilis (echo of sebilis in shroom area) and chardok (echo of chardok around royals), the latter 2 taking a group or more to kill.

Now I've seen a couple different posts about the random / rare essence that you need (besides the 2 essences from the named mobs in Chardok and Seb) stating that Howling Stones drops a rare random essence and that possibly Karnor's Castle drops a rare random essence.

If anyone knows where the third random essence drops (HS, KC or Chardok) could you please reply where you got yours?  Thanks

Hey Skratchen!! How many times did slow get resisted on that last mob? Oh, three or four times...

Liga

I got one in HS last night.  In about 6 hours of clearing, the shaman I was there with didnt get one and I got one.  Mine came about 1-2 hours in and we tried to get him one, too.  We just ran out of gas.  A simple search on Alla's will show you that Essence of Howling Stones drops off of a hexbone skeleton and that entirely true.  As for the other two zones, Im not positive.  Ive just heard what you all have: that its Echo of Sebilis and MobX in Chardok.

Hereki

I got an Essence of Howling Stones a couple of months ago.  It was introduced in the iksar quest series of patches.

So does the old VP key quest still work? (if say I wanted to go do it now)

Tatter

Sorry was at work so just got back ..

---- ninja on

I'll avoid some specific spoilers in this but believe me if you want
to work all this out on your own, don't read any further.

Veeshan's Peak is meant for L65s who are looking for an alternate way
to gear up for GoD than raiding into elementals. However I would say
if you can manage it elementals are still better since there's so many
more mobs but this will be a godsend for smaller guilds incapable of
putting out the numbers for the worst fights before elementals (say
Rallos Zek).

GETTING IN

The new quest is two stages. The first stage depends on whether or not
you have (or are doing) the old key or the new key.

1a. The old key still works to get you through the first stage. Now
that Verix is soloable the only chokepoint on doing the old quest is
Trakanon, every other piece is soloable by every class at 65, and
Trakanon himself only takes one group maximum (he too could be
soloable if it weren't for his Trak touch targetted port).

1b. The new quest involves killing mobs in Howling Stones, Chardok,
and Sebilis and getting a drop from each. The Howling Stones drop is
random from any blue mob in the zone (it is fairly rare though, but
any 65 group can chew through that zone like crazy). The Chardok and
Sebilis drops come from specific named mobs that can pop at spawn
points that spawns only blue to 65 mobs. In Sebilis this can be
anywhere in the zone (but will mostly be in the shroom area and jug
area). In Chardok it is further limited to around the royals and near
the kennels. In both cases the named mob always has the drop (each
person keying needs it though). The named mob itself is actually quite
rowdy; a subelemental team will want a full group with probably
primary and backup healing to deal with the AE. Groups packing Time or
GoD gear will be in much better shape; its still advisable to bring a
plate tank though. These named mobs will be instantly obvious to any
tracker in either zone if they get in range of it.

There is a reward that differs depending on which of these keys you do
- an all slot augment. 15hp/mana for the new key, 30hp/mana for the
old.

2. To finish the key you have to defeat a raid mob. It's not all that
tough but its AE (it is a dragon) is fairly heavy. It was balanced to
be killable by a VT equipped raid of 48 people or so. Spawning him is
slightly more complex than a simple turnin for example but nothing too
serious. This mob drops a number (something like 4 of final key
pieces, it is not a flag.

INSIDE THE ZONE

The mobs in the zone are more or less the same as before, just
stronger. They are still on Ring of Scale faction (glad to see the
badasses of the dragon world really are the badasses of the dragon
world again). If you hosed your RoS faction you are in for a world of
pain in Mistmoore, though this may change (an alternate faction area
is being considered still). If you're non kos you can wander around
the zone safely (mostly).

Six of the surviving dragon members of the Ring of Scale are still in
Veeshan's Peak: Silverwing, Hoshkar, Xygoz, Druushk, Nexona, and the
leader Phara Dar (the ones that were in there before). All six give
quests if your faction is good enough. The quest rewards are
approximately elemental miniboss loot quality (135-140 hp) from the
five lesser members; Phara Dar's quest reward is elemental god
quality. These quests are actually quite easy; Phara's is the only one
that requires anything close to resembling a raid mob drop and that
only just barely (I am not going to spoil the quests here, it won't be
long before Allas has them anyways). So the six quest rewards (each
dragon has two, one for casters one for melee, which you can choose
from) is a pretty viable way of gearing up those slots.

However who wants to be friends with bunch of snotty lizards?

The zone is a great exp zone. There are three significant problems,
though.

1. There are a *lot* of wanderers. It'll be some time before people
can establish where is safe.

2. Respawn time remains very fast. Not "two minutes" fast but faster
than any elemental plane by far. This is a danger when raiding too.

3. Many of the mobs AE. Bring resists.

There are trash mob drops of about Hard LDoN quality, and named drops
of about named (one group) elemental quality. Also all the old VP
drops will drop in this fashion as well.

The exp was comparable to Earth, so very very good.

The dragons themselves have good loot tables including visible slot
pieces (including tunics!) that are otherwise fairly hard for people
trying to gear up in elemental planes to get. They are comparable
(though not exact) to elemental mold armor (except the tunics which
are comparable to the tunics dropped by the elemental gods, not the
gods in Time). IMO, the dragon's drops are better than the quest
rewards (but the quest rewards are better than the named in-zone
drops) so its a bit of a tradeoff. The five lesser dragons are pretty
tough raid mobs with neat tricks up their sleeves, but quite beatable
to any raid capable of beating say, Rallos Zek. Phara Dar was balanced
to be approximately equal to Xegony. (as an aside, the first new
version of Phara Dar had AEs stronger than Quarms... we got that toned
down :-p )

Six kills here will bottom out your faction from ally. If you decide
to kill here, know in advance that getting that faction back will be
nearly impossible.

This zone, as of last I was there, did *not* have a GY. Raids be
warned, wipes will be *nasty*.

That's all I can think of!

I too am wondering if the old quest still works.

At the moment it would be much easier for me to solo (most) of the old quest, assuming I can find a trak's tooth for sale now that they are scarce as hens teeth, than to try and gather up multiple groups of people to spend hours camping and farming the essences in Chardok/Seb.
Kind of disappointing that they only drop one key piece at a time.
At the moment the Essences sound like rare spawns also.

Liga

Well, speaking of the essences...

Today a group of guildies and I took off after killing the new Skyfire dragon to get out Essences.  The night before I posted that I had gotten my HS one.  Well, today we went to seb, found the echo, killed it with pet tanks(two mages, necro and me) and two wiz with cleric and sham healing.  We had a rogue for doors only.  In between echo's we killed trak.  I trained my group with Trak and 5 protectors to see if we could handle it :p.  No deaths, I tanked Trak, and cleric got mana robe.  Yay.  So we went back to shrooms and found a second echo.  It seems that any shroom in the area is a PH for the echo.  Our first one was a wanderer and the second was stationary.  So two Seb echo's down and I logged off.  When I got back, another echo was up!  So sham, necro, me, and two mages go to do it again.  No cleric this time.  It was a success but it wasnt easy.  We're all Time geared and 300+aa.  So one mage gets vp key from trak tooth, and three of us get seb essences.  Off to chardok!!!!
In chardok we originally heard the echo was near the royals.  Turns out no.  We were just wandering killing things(mage x2, sham, me) while the sham was looking around with good chardok faction.  We couldnt find the sob.  So the sham logs in his ranger bot and starts to head over to chardok.  As hes zoning in, I found the echo with my Holgresh Eye.  On the old maps where it says Korocust, there is a room with many mobs in it.  We found 3 echo's in there during our stay.  We wiped that room clean each time and he took one to three spawn cycles to pop.  I lost first two rolls to the sham and mage(not the trak tooth one) and was waiting for last echo to show.  Serverwide message shows up that servers are coming down in two hours.  Great, Im going to have a hell of a time getting this group to come back.  So Im holding my breath each spawn cycle and the last echo shows up with 35mins left till servers come down.  The group of mage x2, sham, and me kill the 3rd echo for the 3 essences we need.  Yay!

Some info about the echo:
It was red, not yellow in both zones.
It has a 2k ae that is fairly large in radius.  Think it was line of sight ae however.  Not sure.
It does only drop one essence.
In seb-Shrooms are ph.
In char-Sarnaks in old Korocust room are ph.
It IS single groupable(again, no real tank for any of 6 echos today just pets).
About the Skyfire dragon for the other part of the quest:
I know it hits hard and ae's a lot.  It was about 400' radius for a 4 buff dispell ae with 2k(I think 2k).
Probably dont want to even bother buffing up as they will be stripped inside a minute anyhow.
There is a knockback to the dragon which sent me flying to my death in the lava, joy!  go go 20k
It is rooted!
Its like old dragons where its melee range to hit with spells.
It can be slowed.
When dead, chests appear on the ground near its spawn with ancient worn books inside.  48 total dropped for us.
*EDIT: Echo's are Indifferent and gave no faction hits when killed!

Hope this helps anyone.  The new VP entry key is not for a casual guild.  The essences are doable, but youre going to have a hell of a time getting the Skyfire dragon down without some serious firepower/healing/tanking.  Good Luck all!

A lot of people are confusing this part so Im going to make it clear for those wondering:

Yes, you can still do old VP key.
That only takes you half way through new VP key quest though.
You still have to kill the dragon for the book-->>blood.
3 Essences only substitute for the old key.
