But to make a mage so important?  You'd think these devs don't even play everquest   :wink:

Damn, I missed that one.  I try to keep pretty versed on EQ Lore.  I do think that this is the great cataclysm that happens before EQII however....or at least the start of it.  I'm not sure if I agree that they are the 4 chosen however.  Most people think that they have already been named...(though I can't remember them atm...other than Mirg).

Miragul was one of the first chosen 3, those 3 would be reborn in the bodies of men and be brought together by a 4th who would take the items of the first 3 chosen for his own.

If you read the history it says that Miragul was one of the first 3 chosen.

I'm afraid when LoY came out and the lore was talking all the time about "The One" ... uh, sorry "The Wun" I gave up on EQ lore.  The least the could have done was not rip stuff from the Matrix movies.

I don't think so.  Practically every time you hear of a prophecy of any kind, in history, novels, or movies, they're talking about some One who is going to do something.  I'm pretty sure any connection to the Matrix is in your mind.

Not entirely Vopi, alot of them came from pre-release information and spoilers which then Verant put out during Beta.  It was to serve to fill in some of the history and lore of Norrath.

I think not.  "Most" prophecies I've seen are random junk from the minds of insane people that can be read which ever way you like.  Most fictional prophecies seem to be along the lines you mention, the ones that are not are by decent authors ... and there are very few decent fantasy authors sadly.

But which ever way you cut it, the EQ lore writers need firing.  LoY lore was trite and cringeworthy.  I can write better than that and I do less than 2000 fiction words a year.  I'm not even going to start on how the EQ history suddenly was completely changed after Kunark came out.
