Title: Recently returned to EQ, possible switch to beastlord.
Post by: Kattbert on February 12, 2012, 11:13:07 PM
So I recently returned to EQ about 3-4 month before VoA.  I was playing an SK for solo, but as my guild is starting raids up I am thinking about switching to a more DPS type role.  I know (or was told) that rogues are going to be top DPS in Veil, but I want something that can solo, if I am not grouping/raiding.

I have a couple of question, one of them is very stupid, so please bare with me.

(the dumb question)
1. So it has been about 4 years since I have played the beastlord, so the only I know right now is pet attack, auto attack, and I have spells.  Does anyone know a guide that I can read up on so I do not drop a bunch of stupid questions in the beastlords channel?
> The reason I do not remake is that the beast has Veterans rewards, or I would remake and level up.

2. What level should I stop to farm AA's?  Right now I think he has 20.  Someone said to level to like 80 or 90 and then farm, but that seems like it would be EXTREMELY hard.
> I can, and probably will box him with a Druid.  (would PL the druid to like 75-80 for DS alone, if the Beast is to solo, or same level range to duo)

3. Lastly if anyone has any other advice, I am all ears.  I have a 70 monk with gear to feed to him as well.  (I am an alta-holic.)

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Sorry, I meant to say that I am currently reading the Vah Shir guide on this site, but I am looking into a guide about raiding and grouping and stuff as well.  As not to make an ass hat out of myself.

1) Check out other areas of this forum, particuarly some of the subforums under the Library section. I know there's a stickied post on pet commands.

2) Stop to AA at any point that seems good to you. Levels > AA really was the best strategy many years ago, but AA experience curves have been changed since then.

3) For current content, you're not going to be a decent raiding toon until you're max level with 1000's of AA's and level-appropriate gear. That's true of most classes. Of course, if your guild is only planning to raid low-level content, that's another matter.

Ok thanks.  Yeah the AA grind will be hard.  Maybe I can hit 80-85 and get in a Hot Group chain running things for a bunch of AA. I was thinking more like 2k AA is what I needed and like 2mil in gear.  (dont know where I am getting that money)

I have an aa chart in my sig. It defines the cost and defines what they do. It's a good start to decide what aa to buy first. As far as your question on levels vs aa, bear this in mind, I had a warrior that was around level 60. I started grouping her with my bst and shm. She rose like a rocket. In something like 2-3 months, she was 81 with almost 900 aa. The aa leveling is far easier than you might think.

HoT T3-T4 equivalent gear is available in the bazaar with roughly 1370 HME. It's VoA T1 attuneable gear.

A question I have is: what content is your guild starting on raiding?

I will give you my insight to AA grinding, the one place I would of stayed at longer if given the oppertunity would be Plane of Fire, you will not find a better place to grind aa solo (Trust me on this) I donno what level your BST is but i'll start out with a simple guide

Start out at C1 and level from 60 to 65 here once 65 Grind out aa's till you hit around 250 or so.
Now that you have some defensive and offensive aa's under your belt go to C2 and grind your lvl to 80,
i know it will take awhile from 76-80 buts its well worth the gear that opens up for you at lvl 80. Now go get your HoT Tier 1 Gear and weapons and farm the shit out of C2 for aa's till around 2k (Im serious, you won't find an easier grind, if you leave early and level you will regret it I promise)

Best of luck to you friend.
