How many hours and how much plat would have to be spent tradeskilling would it take to get this done?

Assume I have zero tradeskills.......well..........cause thats what I have...

Ok, here, take the amount of work that you are right now envisioning you will need to put into the whole thing, getting from nothing to the eighth shawl. Now, if you are a pessimist by nature, multiply that amount by ten. If you are an optimist by nature, multiply it by a hundred.

That is how much effort will go into just getting your tailoring to a minimally acceptable level. Let's not even get into what smithing will require....

Nowadays I assume it might be easier to get your Tailoring up.  But I believe almost every skill needs to be at least 180 in order to get to Trivial level.  The amount of plat depends on how you skill up, by buying parts or by hunting (for example, with GoD you can now get up to 50 in each tradeskill for free, for a few hour's investment in each one).

I haven't done this quest, haven't even really started on it, but I have read up on it a bit and I always remembered that disclaimer in the EQTraders walkthrough...
