Has anyone completed this quest as an Iksar beastlord?
If so, how did you go about turning in the grimling runner pouch?

I found the grimling runner completely by accident when I was hunting in Tenebrous, so I didn't have a friend along to loot the pouch and do the turn-in for me... trying to find out if I should even bother with it now.

I've read sometime ago (I'm a troll and have the same faction problem you have) that the best way would be to go in Katta with a nice friendly Enchanter, to charm the quest giver for you (and a wizzie/drood to port out of there).
I didn't do it however, but it seems reasonable enough...

Did you check your faction with the quest giver or did you just assume you cannot do the turn in?

Katta is not exactly a "good" city like the old world.  It will tolerate some seemingly "evil" people, for example, my Rallos Zek Ogre is not KoS in there by default, without any faction work.

If you did find out that you cannot get the quest, charm is one way to do it.  Another way is to simply have someone do the turn in for you.  The pattern is tradable, so is owlbear pelt and the final pack.

Its a decent bag.  Definately worth getting.

I'm KoS (scowling) to the quest giver, as well as the rest of the city. It wasn't anything I did... they just don't like Iksar folk for some reason. And sadly, the grimling runner pouch I have in my inventory is no-drop, unlike the rest of the quest items. If I chose to use a friend or alt for the turn-ins, I would have to turn in the pouch for the pattern first.

I don't like to give up so easily, but it's probably much less painful to just hunt down the grimling runner again and call in a friend to loot the pouch :).

Katta faction is easy, just go kill vampires in TM.

The faction raised by killing vampires (Validus Custodis) only affects the Katta guards. The citizens themselves are on a different faction (Katta Castellum Citizens).

I've heard that killing Sanctus Seru guards can raise this faction, but they're probably a bit too tough for me at this point. If you have any other ideas, I'll give them a try :).

How about those vampire assassins in lower Katta?  Don't remember what faction they give.  You probably can't do the quest turn in yet but the kills might help your faction.

If I remember, I'll swing by Katta and see what faction they give.

These two appear to be the only NPCs on the list I have a chance of killing at level 53, and that depends on where they're located in Sanctus Seru. As far as the quests go, it looks like every one of them starts (or requires a turn-in) in Katta Castellum or Sanctus Seru, and I'm KoS in both. My only other hope is that some of the Katta quest-givers are on VC faction rather than Katta Citizens, and I can get to a non-KoS point with them by killing more vampires. I've been collecting all the fangs and ash I come across just in case.

If I do find a way to make this work, I will definitely share it. It's probably a huge waste of time, but at least I'm not starting more alts :p.

Just thought I brought to your attention that the Bestiary is incomplete.  Don't rely on it as your sole source of information.

Just put it in your shared bank slot.  Make a toon or give it to a good faction toon you already have and get him to do it.  

I have given a pattern to each of my alt-toons just this way.  My beastlord was the only one to actually do the deed, so the pattern can definately go into the shared bank slot.

Sure the pattern can but thats not his problem. He has a runner pouch that he needs to hand in and thats no drop. You can't put a no drop item in the shared bank.
