Riftseeker's Royals, any advice please...
« on: September 17, 2005, 08:50:47 AM »
Have been trying to find some form of a write up or a good strategy on these buggers. Could anyone please suggest some method, or perhaps point me in the right direction.

Thankyou All.

For King:

Single pull the first 3 Prince's and kill them and kill the dogs they spawn afterwards, make sure to CC them during the fight. As soon as the third prince is dead run back down the stairs.  Make sure to be careful of any of the bombs that come down the stairs and also little doggies. Have your rangers root and bow kite them, just don't let them get to the raid.

When all rez'd, buffed and FoM we pre target the 3 other princes. Have our MT grab agro on one and have our rangers/tanks kite the other 2 in the big dip in the middle infront of throne. CC the doggies and kill a few (normally 4-5) of them before DPSing the MT's prince. Rinse and repeat till all princes dead and all doggies dead and go tank King when ready.

When engaging the King have a couple (2 minimum) rangers root any bombs that spawn, helps having a spare ranger or two just running back up for them. We normally have one of our Pally's DA and place King and our MT get agro. Apply DPS and then award loot just be careful that those damn bombs don't get to your raid.

Flash of light is useful on bombs.

thanks to an awesome strat sent by tugg, the fight went real smooth. Was a mini wipe (one resser camped out) on last two princesses - ourbomb team got sloppy - but otherwise kill went very smooth. I really appreciate the advice/posts given. Thankyou all - esp Tugg.

Single pull the first 3 Prince's and kill them and kill the dogs they spawn afterwards, make sure to CC them during the fight. As soon as the third prince is dead run back down the stairs.

On the 3rd Prince hold Dps at around 10% so the Dogs are killed off (these should all be mezzed) and if any are dead then rezzed.. The MT can survive with a good heal team dedicated to keeping him up whilst others clean up the mess around. Once every one ready, which isnt really long, then DPS Prince 3 down and dead. This step is repeated for the second batch of Princes.. Just hold on the last Prince. Position a MT at the foot of the Throne and have the battle there.. Its about the furtherst point from the portals. When the dogs are dead again, just kill Prince and straight on to King. MT picks up agro and its on for young and old. The King is really a push over when you get to this stage.. The horrible part are the bombs and the crystals they set off. So Bards using HighSun, Rangers and other Magic range attacks (love Wizards) pick the bombs off. I am sure they can be snared but they needs confirming.. Once King dead, scatter! These bombs pick up speed and nothing is worse than these. Kill them off and thats it..

sorry some parts are sketchy as I am usually with the Dps and listening to the Raid Leaders commands.. But its a fun fight and I hope the best for all those who give it a go :)

Just wondering if anyone has suggestions for bomb CC on Queen fight?

We killed her for the first time last night, although we've never really tried before. We had our bards HSing the bombs whilst we fought the Princesses and then would try and dot them down but it seemed to be making a meal out of it in my opinion. With infusion its fairly safe to let them explode at you since AE is resistable but thought i'd see if any of you guys have a better way of doing it.

We use flash of light to keep them off us while we kill the princesses, then kill them with pets and nukes while spread out in the safe rooms.  The odd one explodes but only recruits die and... well... that's par for the course :)

Safe rooms, where are they?

Been doing these as a slug fest, and bombs are easily controlled with two bards and a couple wizzies. High sun and nuking.

I dont see how FoL is controllable enough to result in mobs moving in the direction you desire, there is a 25% chance the mob will go roughly towards you.

Our strat basically is, run in kill 1-2 princess run out to Queen camp/statue camp kill dogs, and bombs. Repeat till all dead.

King we did the same but the bombs on king are a total pita, we had a significant number of shards forming.

The safe rooms are the ones connected to the queen or kings room at either end, you don't need to run out you can just run into those.  They're outside tether range.  If you've been doing it without using these you're making your lives unnecessarily hard :)

We run in, kill princesses, one maybe two, then head for the safe room and spread out along the walls.  During this time pallies are using FoL to keep bombs away, it doesn't matter that it's not 100% reliable because you can cast it in 0.9 seconds.  Besides, wizards and bards are useful, pallies aren't. :)

When we're in the safe room we let bombs in and nuke/pet kill them.  The odd one explodes but doesn't kill anyone except the cannon fodder.

Interesting, didn't know about the side rooms being outside of tether range. Might have to use them because we were urining off the group at statue by constantly running back out ever 2 princesses.

Just glad that we finally killed her and will now do a full clear of RS everytime they're up since King is so easy and Queen is now fairly easy.

Also super glad that Queen dropped Leather Bp on first kill and I got a nice new upgrade  :-D

From experience King has a far longer tether range and will make it half way over the tether room.

Princes are tethered and charge you literally at the doorway to main room.

Tether says buckets of time :)

******SPOLIER BELOW********

******SPOILER BELOW********

Ok been doing these for a month now and have refined strat, initially used to take 2 1/2 hrs to kill these, and first king attempt was 5 hrs. Now we got them down to 45 minutes each.

Final warning spoiler below***********

WOT Strategy - RSS King + Queen

After trying a couple of things heres the strat with a good chanc of success.

Minimum Required classes

Wars x 2
Wars/Beefy knights x 2
Clerics x 6
Rangers x 2
Chanters x 2

Head to king room, pause at steps before.
Hug left into the safe room keeping on raised bit and final prep beyond the table at the wall.

Pretarget the three closest princes for 3 tanks.
Have biggest tank on prince nearest king, will tank longest.
If only have 2 wars use beefy knight on closest prince, this dies first.

After pre target  have the CC team move in and right. CC team = chanters, a MA knight and a healer or two. chanters mez the dogs.
Bomb squad also moves in, consisting of rangers, these snare and shoot the bombs as spawn. A wizard or two will help greatly in getting them down faster.
Tanks move in and left a bit
Monk pulls the three princes due south and tanks pick up from there.

Tanks call assist and mob is beaten down, important - do not wall the mobs or they tether.
Once 1 prince is down kill the second then immediately retreat to the safe room again, beyond the table. This tethers the last prince back to his spawn.

while the MA calls assist on 1 dog at a time rogues colect the bodies of the dead. From this point no one goes into the main room apart from bomb squad.
Once dogs dead bomb squad should have only 1-2 bombs left and retreat to the corridor of the safe room, ranged people kill bombs.
Bombs exploding is very bad, anyone near them will die from the shards that are left. Thankfully the shards will despawn so get a cleric to a safe spot and you can recover easily.

Once bombs dead hug the right raised area all the way around to the other safe room.
Repeat above for 2 more princes.

Next pull the last prince on thr side you are on and kill it, then retreat and deal with bombs/dogs. Killing a single prince is very easy and no one should die.

From now on the last prince will auto-charge anyone going into the room, it will start charging the instant the 5th prince is dead.

Med to full in prep room as final fight next.

War 3 or beefy knight now leads raid into the room. Prince charges, engage and kill it. Meanwhile a dog or 2 will spawn and bombs start spawning. When the prince is dead have MT attack King who will charge raid, and take it towards the throne, the MA knight will call assist and kill the dogs. When dogs dead MT will have enough agro and everyone kill the king.

While king is dieing watch the bombs carefully, if you are successfully walking and turning (WoT tm for push) the king at the throne this will leave plenty of room to control the bombs.

Warning a bomb exploding at the raid is pretty much fatal. The fall back point is arses on the wall in safe room, not halfway in the room but arses stuck to wall. King tethers to around the middle of the room. Bombs will continue to spawn and a very very messy CR will ensue. DO NOT LET A BOMB EXPLODE IN THE RAID.

When King dies, everyone scatters around the room and stands still, no one stands near the corpse. Assist on any bomb coming for you, nuke and mellee.

Grats king done, rez and loot.

Queen

The queen tanking strat is identical, the add control and safe points are different.
The safe point WoT uses is the left hallway, this is far enough away from tether, is easier for controlling the bombs and gives the CC team longer to control the mobs.
We have used the safe rooms but due to thier very close proximity to the portals it makes CC much harder.
The corridor is still far enough away to tether everything and if you are in the middle you are safe.

Bombs - for bombs you need bards, preferably 2 to Highsun the bombs when they approach the raid. Note, Flash of light can cause the bombs to go near the other princessess who will join the party if they take any damage within agro range. FOL is very unreliable on this and we have had issues because of it.
If you dont have bards, then you can try using a monk and rogue to kill the bombs, this is risky and these people have to back off when apprioaching the other princessess. The bombs are far less deadly when single as they only explode and leave no shards.
There are a lot more dogs on this raid, up to 8 and unless you look after your chanters you can get in trouble very fast, a loose dog will rampage through your healers and everyone dies.

The queen is harder to execute cleanly and harder on CC due to the dog spawn rate.
