New troll warder...

I think it would be good if Tastian would use his connections to get us an update on what is planned with warder models.
I do not believe that they will leave the models as they are !
Especially since the warders in front of the kitty palace already have the new models !!

Some kind of official info would be nice, I think we do deserve that, even if there is no official ETA on anything, I know that many Trollies who quit playing over the warder issue will return once we got our gators back  and scan this forum every now and then for this info - I know I did when I left EQ !

I've been horsing around with a new account and considering reactivating my old one for a while. I'm glad I stumbled across this thread, if I had logged on and found my beloved gator turned into that abomination I might have cried. (melodrama!)

Seriously though, that new model looks terrible. But then, I think almost every model they re-vamp looks terrible. Except Kunark goblins, those were great. And spirit wolves, but the original ones were improved, but the original velious wolves were way better. (Remember them? The huge wolves with giant triangular red eyes?)

One of the reasons I originally quit EQ was having my character changed without my consent in ways I didn't like. New models, breaking armor textures, things that changed a character that I was attached to into something else. I made a troll beastlord specifically so I could have a huge awesome gator buddy running around with me. Then they super-shrunk them, but they were still cool, and I could shrink myself down and feel better about it. Making them grow larger again is one of the best things they could do, but not if it means replacing them with some weirdo monster spider lizard thing. And the new expansion gator someone linked (savage caiman) is no good either. The gators should look the way they did when we created them. Cute, and short, not some demonic spiked roid machine.


In closing, I hope that whatever they do, they give people a choice. Let people choose to change their warder to a new model, let people choose to keep the warder they grew up with, let people choose what to do with their character, don't make the decision for them.

Unfortunately, the devs are completely uninterested in problems like these, especially since it is such a  small group that is affected(Troll Beastlords). Yet also for me, this was one of the bigger reasons to unsubscribe in the end. So again it comes down to the fact that they simply have too few people working on the game.  The revamps are quit terrible indeed, only Lavastorm and Ro was ok (and Nek 3.0), but East and West Commons was another disaster imo. They shrunk both zones into one of half the original  size yet packed all the camps and inns in there, making it look very silly. They are now ridiculously close together. The texturing is bland, and the cool, somewhat hidden entrance to Befallen that you usually located through it's eery glow is now a gaping hole in the zonewall that you can see from the other end of the zone. Stuff like that really makes me think that the current devs have no eye at all for the more subtle sides of World building. :(

I vote yes on new warder.  :-) He is more cool than a gator. Gator looked like a football mascot :-(

NAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL, check out the Demo server. This graphic doesn't exist, so the warder looks like a little human. even that is better than this one. Gator or mini human, not this one!
