pet agro on raids

ok ok there is no need to turn this into a fight among ourselves. In the end, any tactics is only as good as the one being used.  We understand what you are saying and agree on principle. Its just that raid tactics are very dear to those who implemented them.  Unless you are in the tactician role, forcing the issue won't help you in guild.  That's all.

Yup - pet agro works pretty much how you think

Yup - human nature and resistance to change works pretty much how you think

Yup - trying a smart tactic as a surprise move in the middle of the action is gunna cause grief and dismay.



Pet agro is a very powerful and useful tool.  While a relic pet is unlikely to match a BoW using tank, a storm pet is surely one of the best generators of agro in the game.  Case in point - storm procing pet tanking the mini named in SSRA - casters nuking.  Pet holds agro so well, that even during mob enrage, when pet is /pet guard and /pet hold - the nukers do not pull agro.

A very viable source of agro if you can make use of it effectively.

On xegony I used my pet to position her.  Only 2 warriors and my kitty are to engage xegony using our tactic.  Well the other day when we killed her one of the 2 warriors died and the other was just out of melee range.  Instead of the other warrior or the CHR clerics Xegony the Queen of air says, "you will not evade me tailchaser's warder".  I backed my pet off and my eyes got big as xegony started chasing my pet who was running right to me.  The 2nd warrior running after her  8) .  So I hit pet attack and the warrior got in melee range just about the time calliav dropped.  Then we worked her back into her spot and killed the bish.  Dropped a puresteel wrap and the veng6 shoulders.

IE... If you arent the Raid Leader.... Do as the raid leaders tell you.

If you feel you can help. Wait till the raid is over and then talk to them. Dont try and strike up a tatical conversation while in the middle of a raid. Espically VT.

FYI I am a Raid Leader. I would have told you to do the same thing. The reason why is because yea your pet gets high on the hate list. You better hope he dont die cause you will replace your pet on the hate list and you will end up dead. I use pets on raids all the time. They are a asset that cannot be over looked due to their DPS and ability to die and not cause huge downtime. But there are times that if you dont have pet hold I dont want to see the pet at all.
