Ok their is 4 Main styles of play  Raid , Group , Boxing ( duo ) , Solo ( self only or self + merc ).
What I think would help is to know what are the top 3 spells you use in each type of play you do.

Example

Raid
SE
Fero
Howl

Group
Slow
Dots

Solo
Pet heals
slow

I like to kind of get a feel for what are our most used spells
thanks

Howl

If I had to pick only 3, it would be either (Howl, Nuke, Nuke) or (Slow, Howl, Nuke) depending on whether I was the slower or not. For all scenarios. But expanding the question to top spells in general:

Raid:
Howl
Nuke x 3 (two cold and one poison).
Instant DoT(s) (only on named fights when they are useful)
If mana becomes an issue, stop the DoT's and reduce/stop the Nukes....Howl is the most efficient use of mana in most cases.
SE doesn't make the list, as it's more of a downtime spell, not even memmed during main events. If someone is back from the dead, I may toss them a Focused Paragon, but SE can wait. Ditto for Fero...I might use it shortly before something starts when I have mana to burn, but not during the event itself.

Group:
Slow (only if primary slower -- if it's a fast pulling group, I might load two slows)
Howl
Nuke x 3
Instant DoT(s) (if mobs are living long enough to be useful)

Boxing:
-- I guess it would depend on what you're boxing with. In my case, it would probably be the same as solo. I rarely box.

Solo: (with or without merc, nowdays usually with)
Slow
Howl
Nuke x 3
Instant DoT(s)
-- this is highly subject to playstyle and gear level. While I do pet heal when needed, I tend to do most of my own tanking, so it's not a top spell like it might be for someone who lets the pet tank a lot. If you decide to kite a mob, you don't need slow and DoT's will be far more useful.

But this is just me. Your experience may be entirely different.

Khauruk

The only things that change for me from group to raid are who gets Focused Paragon, pet rune spells for raid, and Growl for long fights on raids.

Fero - never use it.
DoTs - I'm only starting to get the manapool to use them, I'll load them as needed/useful.
SE - downtime, only on healers if die at beginning of fight I know is assbeat on their mana.  Otherwise they jsut get a few rounds of para.
TURNCOAT!!!!!

Nusa

People who consider SE or clarity buffs vital to their recovery in mid-fight can use potions to do both. They're very close to the real thing, just don't last as long.

AbyssalMage

I group/solo only...

Top 3 are...
Nuke x 2  (don't have poison yet)
Slow

I rarely slow in groups.  I keep it mem'd but unless I'm pulling I usually forget to cast.  I have Feral Swipe, Bite, and Kick all linked on one key so that gets spammed like crazy also.  When I get my Harrow Disc and Poison Nuke they will both make it into my spam rotation.
Grimwar
81 Beastlord
Theris-Thule...errr....Prexus

Maylian

Solo / Molo:
Slow
Howl
Nukes

Group:
Slow (Unless there is another slower)
Howl
Nukes

Raid:
Slow
Howl
Nukes

Raid DPS:
Howl
Nukes
Dots
Puma
Delayed Pet heal

Bite of the Vitrik Rk. II  Recast 30 sec  1: Decrease Hitpoints by 4052  Mana 1085   Damage 5875

Jagged Torrent Rk. II recast 30 sec   1: Decrease Hitpoints by 1475    Mana 421  Damage 2138

Frigid Lance Rk. II Recast 30 sec  1: Decrease Hitpoints by 1844 Mana   494  Damage 2673

Vs

Tsetsian Endemic Rk. II  3564 Damage in 1 min  mana 600  Damage 5167

Ikaav Blood Rk. II  3442 Damage in 42 sec  Mana 765 Damage 4990

Now  With SoD Wrist  you can add 45%.

with recast of 30 sec you can on nukes  you can get them in 2 times for each dot per say.

So  in a 1 min  ( time takes to kill avg mob ) you have the following

Dots 1365 mana spent for 10,157 Damage

Vs

nukes    6700 mana spent for  21,372 Damage

So is the do more ppl use Nukes  for Double damage ? even with it being a lot more mana burned ?

I would say use yowl, nukes and dots together for raids but in grp's i would only use Ikaav blood, yowl, nukes if you have Sod bracer that is as for slow depends on were i am if i even use it!

The answers are simple, really:

More DPS is nearly always better.

Faster mobs die, faster people get experience. The question is usually not which is the more efficient dps, but which dps can stack. In the case of Nukes, the sooner you use them, the sooner the recycle time will be up so you can use them again. That's why they're first.

Mana efficiency only matters if you don't have enough mana to finish the fight.

Years ago, this was a much bigger deal, and people had to PLAN on taking significant sit time to recover enough mana for the next pulls. People bought Expansive Mind and Mental Clarity AA's before other things, because they were a lot more important then. (They're still useful, especially for raiders, just not as valuable as they used to be.)

That all changed with Out-Of-Combat regen. Now anyone can get their entire mana bar back in non-raid situations just by sitting down for a short time. In most cases it's actually more efficient to blow your mana on dps and sit down to med than to be efficient in the first place. Even if you have to sit out every thirteenth mob in a group setting (this has the side-benefit of reminding the group how effective you were on the other twelve).

Focused Paragon also helped a lot...I usually use it on myself for mana flow, unless someone else is obviously in greater need.
