Rile the mages up a little prolly..

What? Mages get all riled up in that thread? Na......

To hell with the damn mages.

I want my pet to be on par with a mage pet for the simple reason we are a PET CLASS. We are not an underpowered monk with a pet or a weakassed shaman with a pet. There are three main pet classes. Mages Necros and BEASTLORDS. Stop this bs about us being held back cause we have this spell or that utility... I'm not a casting monk or a meleeing shaman. WTF is up with SKs having pets that are stronger than ours? They are a damned tank class not a pet class. Roughly 1/3 of our spells and aa/utilities are geared towards our pets. What use are all those abilities if our pet dies to a single round attack from a mob?

To hell with the other classes... Get our class back in line.

Let's go for a SECOND pet then. 4 different versions of it, summoned via spells, affected by pet focii, and AAs.

1st pet is a tank, 2nd pet is a healer, 3rd pet is melee DPS, 4th pet is caster/ranged DPS.

You can use one of them at a time. It sits in the mercenary slot. Each pet is a tweaked version of its type, with some extras and some AI modifications to better suit the beastlord, a lightly armored, melee centric, greater pet hybrid class.

Say Higher aggro, stuns, some special attacks, healing AI based more around healing a lightly aromored meleer with better decision making ability for dealing with a pet/melee character combo and a couple extra buffs from the shaman class beyond those of a merc healer, stealth melee with some or more poison use and a disc or 2 and a better spells, lower aggro or tougher dps caster. They are all pre-equipped with appropriate gear that you can't manually change and are summoned at an equal level. They are tri ranked, with rank only affecting the rank of any discs/spells they can employ (stats are determined with focus, or hey can be based on the rank, either/or).

Each pet is a specific animal type (say gorilla, phoenix, serpent and drake(?)) OR is summoned as a different colored version of the main warder (black bear vs brown, black wolf vs white, black and yellow basilisk vs green, red scaled wolf vs green, black cat vs tiger)

Toss in maintenance cost as either free or via tribute. Of course last, but not least, our merc slot pets WILL function where a normal merc would be suspended automatically.

Allows us to keep existing warder, with some tweaking and power boosts (of course), but also gives us something we can declare a BEASTLORD "class specific" ability that we can be just as ridiculously zealous about defending regardless of logic or fairness.

Zunar

I saw another mage saying something about that beastlord + warder together should have the equivalent tanking power of what a mage pet alone has.

It's nice to see how clueless some mages really are....

The sad part is that's probably close to where we are mitigation-wise these days :/

We got very limited small heals, and can't dps a mob soloing, unless we tank it ourselves....the warder being able to tank doesn't help us dps...it only helps us to catch a short breath for healing self up....in the meanwhile we risk losing the warder...and the fight duration grows longer and longer as we're busy healing alot and worrying to not die.

In comparison you got the soloing mage, who can keep on unloading full dps at all times, and keep up heals at the same time....promised heal is often enough, when their gargoyle pets eat alot of tankage too.

The warder able to offtank for us means really squat when it comes down to it....one might as well have a root spell or short mezz to cast on the mob to be able to back off for a few....cuz that's how useful the pet is as OT...it's dps is insignificant.

I'd like to see those stupid mages who say stupid things like that, actually roll a bst and try it and see for themselves what their yapping about :)

ok...
